Rejected, but since I already got into Cornell, I’m not too concerned.

well yeah but we all have competitive stats, right? lol

what would you say is competitive for dartmouth in terms of hs gpa college gpa, SATs? Dartmouth also requires 2 subject tests for transfers which is weird, and I don’t know what the criteria for a waiver is but I think it’s mostly to do with whether you can afford to take 2 subject tests, or maybe if taking 2 will interfere with your college work (I don’t see this happening though; otherwise everyone would apply for SAT II waivers)

I have been learning computer science for 10 years now. Tons of R&D projects, National Olympiad fellow, Won all academic scholarships offered by Govt of India. Research paper published in International Journal for Number Theory, Algebra and Applications. Bad GPA (3.01/4) due to a a kidney stone operation in first year. High school GPA of 3.9/4. Internship under Prof.Phatak last year, who is named as India’s most prominent open source evangelist for 3 years in a row(only freshmen to intern under him). A R&D project at Microsoft Research underway and interning at Google over the summer.

ok im giving a little info :

3 computer classes 300 level (OS/ Networking) , 2 hisotry classes 200 level , and other easy subjects. how bout others any stats? I mean the wait lists ? MY gpa so far 4.0;)

transferstudentn did you submit your SATIIs? How’d you do on those?

you seriously need SAT II’s? **? I didn’t know…lol maybe that helped progress my rejection? I seriously did not send them in nor did they tell me I needed to. They said my application was completely.

no need for SAT2, my SAT 1 was 1900 what was urs @cordova

To add insult to injury, I had perfect SAT scores.

so did we need to turn in SAT subject test scores or not?

They were in the checklist on its website. Also there was a page specifically telling transfer applicants to submit a petition for waiver of the SATII requirement, so I don’t think someone could have mistaken that they were only required of Freshmen.

kazzar you had a 2400?

@cordova no you dont need the test subject scores, what were your stats?? Since we both got in cornell seems we shud have a very good shot :)

wooooooooooow kazzar impressive how u got 2400 ?? DId u apply in any others??

@digit6: well i didn’t submit anything nor did they notify of it…oh well…

Testing

also
It says 2 subject tests are required of all applicants.

I think the application status page said we have received the necessary materials to begin review, not necessarily that all the materials necessary to complete review arrived. They might not contact you for the missing materials unless the missing materials might be a difference maker. Not meant to say that you’re personally not competitive, just that I can’t see them individually contacting 700 applicants for missing materials unless they were interested.

@kazzar: Don’t be too upset about the rejection. Dartmouth isn’t very comp sci/business oriented, so they thought that you probably weren’t a good fit for their academic program.

I got rejected by MIT. Now Dartmouth. Waiting for Yale, Cornell, Stanford, Columbia and Harvard.

^ Woah you got rejected from MIT with those stats/ECs? I think Stanford might be good for you; they love entrepreneurs.

@smarts1: Stanford is my first preference as they have the best theoretical computer science group. Hoping for the best!

Kazzar did you take the SATs recently just for US unis? If so, I’d imagine that you haven’t been studying forever for it. How did you get a 2400?
