Official Fall 2012 University of Michigan transfer thread

@lakersFTW i have no idea, but it looks like all the co-ed rooms are gone as well. i heard now that the semester is over, some more rooms might become vacant and psoted. hope so

so have you selected a room yet @lakersFTW?

@asheikh - Are you an in-state student by any chance?

@albo23: yep.

@asheikh - Great to hear, I am as well. I hope to see you in Ann Arbor in the Winter 2013 term when I transfer in!

Deferred to yesterday…then…not competitive for Computer Science but competitive for the other departments!!! What should I do? I have taken a dozen of CS courses,and only like software…Really, a bad ending

Is there a facebook page for fall transfers because I couldn’t find any. Anyway, I made one https://www.facebook.com/groups/238729029572984/</a>
I think its a great way to meet other transfers esp since i’m transferring all the way from NJ and don’t know ANYTHING or ANYONE from michigan :P

Any engineering applicants hear back yet?

Check your Wolverine Access & if nothing is up there i would contact admissions the enrollment deposit was 5/1

I just graduated from High School and I’ve been accepted to Grand Valley State University, Western Michigan University, and was accepted for spring semester at Michigan State University after being deferred.

My first two years of high school were really terrible. I was getting about a 2.1-2.3 until the end of my sophomore year. :frowning: Last semester of sophomore year, I received a 3.16 and my next two years looked like this:

Junior year;
1 AP class.
1st semester GPA: 3.7 weighted.
2nd semester GPA: 4.057 weighted.

Senior year;
2 Honors classes.
1st semester GPA: 4.1
2nd semester GPA: 4.057

Overall, I ended with a 3.292 weighted GPA and there is honestly no other university I’d rather attend. I love Michigan State, but I would much rather go to UofM. I am just curious to know what my chances would be if I completed one year at Western and got between a 3.0 and a 4.0. I know I will do well! I have so much motivation and if I have at least some chance of getting to Michigan, I will be trying extremely hard! Is it easy to transfer as a sophomore or not really? I really don’t want to wait D: haha. I am an in-state student, and I don’t exactly play sports. I was in cheerleading for two years and hated it. But I have been involved in choir all four years of high school and had 4 solos overall! :)

Thanks!

Hey guys,

I just finished my freshman year at University of Pittsburgh with a GPA of 3.76. SAT 1880.
Did a lot of econ and calc I/II and stats and other gen ed classes. Do u think i have a chance in applying into LSA for the 2013 winter term?? Thanks

How many credits do you have d4wnzz?

@albo i have 40.

Well you have a pretty good chance. No one can tell you for sure what will happen but UofM prefers students with >30 credits. Does your count of 40 include this Fall 2012 semester?

no, but it does include summer term which im doing now… with fall 2012 it would be 57 credits. thanks for ur comment albo :)

They’ll be looking at that 57 then but they will keep in mind your 3.76 GPA. You are pretty much in the same boat as I am except I am instate. With 57 incoming credits, we should have a very good chance at acceptance for the Winter '13 term. I hope to see you commenting again soon, the application opens August 1st.

@albo yea i will apply either winter 13 or fall 13 depending on my grades for fall. if i have a score of 3.8 or better, im trying cornell too lol, a long shot :). anyways if we are applying for winter/fall 2013, how would they look at our grades for fall 2012? we arent even done yet by the time we apply which is around sept~oct. hmm… maybe they would only consider our freshman year grades?

They wouldn’t look for your Fall 2012 grades, but they would operate with the fact that you’re entering UofM with 57 credits.

i hope i will see u in UMich :slight_smile: thanks for the info!! good luck to us!

@d4wnzz, I think you should apply for Winter 2013 so in case you have dip in grades, you can more or less make sure you at least have Michigan open. I remember that 12/1 is the date that your deposit is due so by then, you’ll have a pretty good idea of what your grades are going to be for the semester. As of now, you would likely be good enough to get accepted.

I transferred from Pitt as well actually and I was accepted for Winter 2012 with a 3.71, 33 ACT, and 31 credits completed with 46 pending (I also did have 22 AP credits though, which are not counted as part of completed college credits). Standardized test scores hardly matter though and the only thing that really matters is GPA and credits and you look just fine there. Good luck!
