I would also talk to a transfer advisor but I this is my first time seeing that you need to complete English by the end of the Fall the year before you transfer. I am clearing reading now on the CAL transfer sheet which states

By the end of the spring term prior to fall
admission you must:

Complete 60 transferable semester units
Complete courses for the major
Complete general education requirements

I see nothing that clearly states you have to finish math or english prior. But what do I know…I do see though how it could have some effect depending on the major.

^^ Yeah no one explicitly says it but according to last year and past years, those who’ve had math or english IP during the Spring have been rejected. Best would be to call

I dont have a choice. I live in the middle of nowhere. No winter classes at any CC in a 100 mile radius. I already have the TAG for UCSB. I guess I’ll just have to wait and see what happens. If I dont get in anywhere there’s always Fall 14.

But honestly if it comes to that I’m just going to go home. California was a dream but I almost wish I stayed in Connecticut and gone to UCONN.

REGARDLESS! I’ve come this far. It’s in the hands of the admissions officers now. I am just going to hope for the best I suppose and go by what they say on their website.

Hello future UC students!
I applied at the following schools
UCLA, UCI, UCD, UCSB, UCR, UCSC
I’m a Business/Econ/Accounting major.
My stats:
Overall GPA 3.50
Major GPA 3.42

Work 30+ hours
Math tutor

I have never failed a class or gotten a grade of lower than B. I fullfilled all my courses listed on assist.org for UCR, UCSB & UCSC. Do I have a chance of getting into these three schools with these stats? Also, I’m missing a calculus course for UCI and will that affect my chances of getting into UCI? Please let me know your opinions.
I’m really nervous because I’m seeing people with GPA’s of 3.7+ on this forum a lot. I would really love to get into UCI or UCSB, if not UCR would work.
Thanks!

@ Mustufa92: Your stats look decent but I wouldn’t count on UCLA or UCI for business/econ since their programs are a lot more competitive, probably 3.7+ range. I got accepted to UCI last year without doing the Calc requirement, but than again I applied as an anthro major so although calc was required it doesn’t have much to do with the major. But for business or something they may like to see calc done but it’s not the end of the world if you don’t have it.

Actually, if anyone wants I can link the decision threads from Fall 2012 transfer. I still have them subscribed in my control panel. You can use them as baselines.

Hey guys …
I am Mechanical Engineering major from CCC … I am a returning student with 5 years of work experience (never went to college, started job right after high school due to financial constraints and I am a recent immigrant, came to USA about a year ago). Time is a major factor for me and I had to transfer as soon as possible, which’ll take me 3 semesters to complete all my pre-reqs. and had to support my self financially so had a part time job as a Physics lab technician at my community college. This pace and busy scheduling did not allow me to focus 100% on my studies and my GPA suffered, by the end of this Semester I’ll end up with 3.4-3.5. I’ve already applied for admission and hoping to get in UCSB or UCI for Mechanical Engr … Are my stats good enough for transfer to UCI or UCSB ?? … or my GPA is too low for these schools ??

@ transfer25: I was in your position, I worked full time for 4 years. I was working 45+ hours a week and going to cc at night and managed to pull off a 3.49 gpa. I go to UCLA now =]. I’m sure you have a really good chance.

school: uci
major: criminology
OMG IDIZZLE i just looked at that and someone had these stats:
gpa: 3.12
tag: NO
ecs: little no none. was on the junior world to tour for amateur surfing past two years and that is pretty much it.
pre-reqs: completed 3/5
when comparing to mine that makes me really hopeful!!!

@ rickyseg: lol. Sorry I have to say this, but skip forward a few pages and you’ll see that the guy who posted that was just trolling. Keep looking though, should be some real stats.

@idizzle, yea haha i just saw that, I’m kind of a special case. I’m only in my first semester out of highschool (other than the two classes in summer) so i didnt have enough units excluding pre reqs to TAG haha
