Official Fall 2014 Columbia Transfer Thread

Financial aid came and it is not even remotely in the realm of possibility, does anyone know how successful appealing generally is?

@megmayumi from what I’ve heard, appealing generally only works if you have new financial information to present, i.e. if your parent just lost their job or something.

No news on housing…?

NVM. Figured it out!

@bookznhoopz I’ve been trying to figure it out for a while. How did you end up logging into the housing portal?

Do we have to confirm our enrollment before signing up for the housing lottery thing? I’m still deciding if I’m going to go, but I also don’t want to be at a disadvantage for submitting my housing app super close to the deadline.

@Frisbole‌ Go to the welcome site. Click “Transfers”. There should be a link under the Housing heading. You enter your PID which is your C00 number and then DOB. Then you should be in. Can anyone activate their UNI yet?

I was recently accepted as sophomore transfer to Columbia, Brown, and UPenn, and I am really torn about where to transfer to. I think I am leaning more towards Columbia and Brown but I am still considering all three and have listed my thoughts below, and so I would really appreciate any feedback!!

Columbia:
I love NYC & the campus, and i’ve heard it has an intellectual vibe! i’ve also heard its not too friendly and so maybe its hard to integrate? Also, I am not a humanities person so I am concerned about the Core, but it does sound interesting. And I dont know what a bar scene would be like

Brown:
I love open curriculum!! and it seems to be friendly and welcoming, but I dont know much about the social environment or what it would be like as a transfer

UPenn:
Seems like a great place to be, people seem friendly, the high rises seem great, and BYOs sound found. I am concerned that the frat scene dominates social life

What were your stats?

Anyone accepted but deciding not to attend Columbia as a JUNIOR TRANSFER? Thank you for your response.

I was travelling and lost a lot of the discussion going in here. But I accepted Columbia’s offer and will be coming in as a sophomore. Do you guys have a facebook group or something like that going on?

To those on the waitlist, any news yet?

@vampireweekend Waitlist here - no news yet… Anybody else? I remember the letter said between June 15th and June 30th but who knows

yes, heres the fb group: <a href=“Columbia University Transfer Students - Fall 2014 | Facebook”>https://www.facebook.com/groups/1485377801676682/

@ILikeCheeseNWine where were you able to submit a plan of study on the app? I’m looking into applying for transfer this year for my junior year and am worried about showing them I can complete the required coursework (especially the Core) in time and would like to include something like this

Hello, I notice that you have not been on this thread in a while, but I am hoping that you get this in hopes that you could give me advice on my transfer essay for Columbia University.
Thanks
