I feel like Econ is the most popular major. Are there any SEAS applicant besides me?

It’s almost 2 in the morning and I am in front of Hamilton, where their admissions office is. Sitting on a bench here. My boyfriend currently attends Columbia so I’m here a lot as a student who presently studies in New York. It’s weird that they’ve made a decision about me and I’m right in front of their office. IDK. Sometimes I wonder if they are reviewing my application when I am around (I seriously come here a lot, and my BF’s dorm is in John Jay which is exactly opposite the admissions office)

art history/visual art combined major (the reason why I have to/need to move to NYC and can’t stay in the middle of nowhere)

I’m totally screwed up, i got rejected by Duke and Penn. Here are my stats, probably I won’t get into any school.
school: top 5 LAC
GPA: 3.93
Major: economics philosophy
SAT 2260 4 APs 2 SATIIs
International student-- asian female
Activities: co-founded 2 companies, one made profits of 20,000 dollars in half a year and another made 2,500 dollars in two months. Club sports member. President of school clubs. Involved in films and theater plays. Summer internship in a top3 bank.

I was really heartbroken that I was rejected by Penn because Penn has awesome economics philosophy program. If Columbia rejects me then I don’t now what to do.

@jessebest I’m surprised and sorry that you didn’t get into Penn. Your stats seem like you had a really good chance.

@delinquente Thanks I think you have great stats too. It’s really hard to predict the taste of admission offices.

I just guess anything related to money will disgust the admission offices even though every one likes money.

@jessebest what do you mean?

@bookznhoopz i just guess it’s better not to mention anything related to money such as “made profits of XX dollars” because you don’t want to appear as a money-driving person

I highly doubt that is the reason why. It’s a bunch of factors, one single phrase will not be the reason you do not get into an Ivy League school. Good luck! I bet it will work out for you! @jessebest

Rejected by Yale today! What a wonderful day. When I get all my rejects I can play cards with my rejection letters.

@jessebest dont get down on yourself, all these schools accept an incredibly small amount of students- and probably have hundreds if not thousands of well qualified applicants that they have to reject. You just have to learn not to take it personally, they were just not the right fit for YOU. it sounds like you are an ambitious person, so I am sure you will succeed what ever happens, just remember to keep your head up

@000AAAaaa Thanks! I will transfer for junior year next year haha!

@jessebest I think we have a lot of common, both in stats and career aspirations. I want to do ib as well. But it’s good that at least you still have a chance to transfer for junior year…I’m applying as a junior transfer

@jessebest quite surprised to see your results, you’d think someone with your stats and experiences would be very very competitive for admissions.
I’m actually in a similar boat, was hoping for acceptance at least somewhere. I’m at Cornell Eng with a 4.0, created an apparel related startup, and am involved in some business related extracurriculars. Rejected Penn, WL duke, going to be rejected by Columbia b/c I didn’t really turn in a complete application…good luck with the upcoming result

Are you guys going to see the decision asap? I feel like the decision is going to interfere with studying for finals…

Yeah I’m going to check right away. Not knowing is only going to distract me even more from studying for midterms. And I have 2 more decisions coming out on the day of one of my midterms next week. I’ll probably check those right away too! Haha

@delinquente @SeekCollege369 thank you for your encouragement I believe we are not defined by schools we are defined by ourselves I really don’t like my school and it lacks intellectuality and diversity

@Schief Yea im definitely going to check mine too right away, its like ripping a bandaid off- do it fast and quick so you can move on with your life.

@jessbest I think that’s actually a tough part of transferring from a more peer type of institution, there are definitely clear reasons/motives to transfer as the applicant yourself but I think it becomes difficult to convey those thoughts in as convincing a manner in your essays and it could send the impression that you are just trying to “trade up” schools
