Official George Washington University Fall 2013 thread

Hey Guys, Do you know If we need a interview for transfer?

Good luck everyone!

I called a few months ago and they said they don’t do transfer interviews. AU does, though, if you applied there too :)

Anyone happen to hear admissions decisions today?

Nope, what about u?

Nothing yet, but checking it constantly! Good luck to everyone, hopefully we hear soon. I have heard that in past years it has taken them a little while past the notification start date.

Are they supposed to email us telling us that decisions are out?

I hope its not like last year; I read that thread and it took until mid-June for some to hear back! I have to reply to UMD by next week and I don’t want to put down a deposit if there’s even a slight chance I’d have to forfeit it.

Hey guys! I just emailed them today, and here is what they said" Decisions for transfer applicants will be out in mid-late May. You will receive an email telling you when to check the GW Activity Center." So I think we will have same situation as last year! Anyway, I need to focus on my finals and hope can get results at the end of this semester! Good luck!

That is really weird because I called two days ago and they said that the absolute latest would be the middle of may… I feel like they don’t even know! Anyway i hope it’s soon, because as of now i have no place to live next year!!

I know! I hope we hear back soon.

Hi All,

Anyone receive decisions? I cannot believe how late schools make us wait considering the next school year is just around the corner. They processed my materials at lightening speed so I really hope decisions with be made soon!

still waiting. we’ll know in the coming 2 weeks – or at least that’s what i keep telling myself

I called the other day and the girl told me no earlier then end of May.

Seriously?? So frustrating :-(.

Is it still looking like the end of may/ june or has anybody heard otherwise?

Hey all! I’m waiting for my decision too! I just checked on GWU collegeboard website and it says a close to thousand students are admitted. THE ODDS ARE (ALMOST) IN OUR FAVORS. :)

I have been having trouble figuring this out and was wondering if any of you knew the answer? How are transfer students supposed to know if they are qualified applicants for the school when there are no stats of admitted students (like there are when we apply from high school) available for us to compare ourselves to. I have a 3.62 GPA coming from AU and i have no idea if that is considered good or bad for a transfer student. Anyone else feeling confused about this too?

@transfer89
I’ve been told that transfers, in general, should have GPAs of 3.7+. Of course there are plenty of students who get accepted with GPAs lower than that but the rule of thumb for me was always 3.7+. Hope this helps!

Thanks newleaf, do you know if that is for people coming from community college or 4 year university’s? I heave read a few other threads that say that the difficulty of the school the person attends is taken into account. Since American is a fairly similar school do you think that could compensate for a lower GPA or does it not really matter?

To all those concerned about the date of the admissions decision - I really hope they do it mid-May, last year I found out on June 4th.

This year I had some trouble with my application. My school didn’t send my report to the correct number and then they sent it on the 18th of April again to the correct number and sent it one last time May 1st or 2nd, forget which date I’m out of the country, but then it all got checked off on the 1st or 2nd as well on my activity center. So I hope it doesn’t cause a delay in my application! Fingers crossed.

Anyone else who’s been in a similar situation?
