So just finished my interview and according to my interviewer they submit an evaluation that does have some slight bearing in the decision. Basically it’s to check you’re normal and that they can recommend you strongly, simply recommend, or not at all recommend. Was very casual, he told me they don’t see anything about your file and are simply given a name.

So… I am probably the only person that handwrote their application. Yes or no?

Also @2013Transfer, did it all work out with your application being submitted?

^^^^^
why did you write it out by hand?

@hoyahopeful84 Well, I just got an email with an interviewer, so I suppose I am at least considered a candidate for admission.

Just had my interview and the alumni was young and also a transfer. It was pretty casual and very informative.
Also, be sure to tell the interviewer anything you forgot to mention in the application.

Had my alumni interview. It was cool. My interviewer was a great guy. I was at his office, wore a blazer, khakis, and power tie… did not feel overdressed.

I was kind of disappointed when it ended because I was enjoying our conversation. We had a lot in common.

@Gtownhoya2013: I thought my application might stand out a bit more in the process. There’s something personalized about filling it out the appin your own handwriting rather than a standardized font. Now it could actually be a huge nuisance for the admissions office and it might work against me…but I took my chances.

I can say for those of you worrying, whether or not you receive an interview has nothing to do with how strong you are as an applicant. I don’t even think they have received any of my application materials yet, but I still received the email request for the interview a few days ago. I’m pretty much certain that it only has to do with the availability of interviewers in your area

And I’m also positive that someone at least looked at either our activities or essays, or both, when deciding who our interviewer would be. I have a really unusual/uncommon activity that I mentioned on the application, and when I googled the name of my interviewer to learn about him, I was surprised to find out that he was also involved with this activity in his career/life, which confirmed my suspicions that they try to match us with alumni who are similar in some way to us

My interview went well. It was a bit short; around 35 minutes.

I agree with @evanescent, I called and asked about the interviews and they said to not worry if you haven’t had one. They told me that they submit our names to available alumni in the area and depending on if an alumnus is available will determine whether or not we will have an interview.

Did anyone send midterm grades? I know georgetown doesn’t require them, but if you’re a freshman and you have good midterm grades, it may help.

They don’t even consider midterms. It would be a waste of your time…

Caricature has it correct.

Not all transfer applicants will recieve an interview. Those that did, that’s an opportunity to present a different part of you that you weren’t able to show in the application. It is read, but rarely is it a make-it-or-break-it component. So those that did not receive an invitation, don’t sweat it.

And it’s been a while since I’ve been on CC, but I guess GU has finally caught up with technology? I didn’t know they were notifying admitted applicants via email.

Should we update Georgetown on new awards and summer internships?

Hey does anyone want to chance me? I’ve been following this Thread a long time too. I’m a freshman at Villanova university trying to transfer into the college as a psych major. First semester I had a 3.8. I have 2100 on my sats and I had a 4.31 GPa in highschool I did a lot of volunteer work and was the president of my class all 4 years. At nova I am on French honors society French club and the student activities committee. I also volunteered for the special Olympics. In highschool I took 3 languages and many ap classes. I had my Georgetown interview yesterday and it went extremely well! My brother also went to Georgetown. If anyone could chance me I’d really appreciate it! Good luck to everyone :)

^ I would say you are a competitive applicant if you took a rigorous college course load (meaning no BS classes like pottery and over 12 credits).

Kim…I would be willing to bet that you get in! Especially since your brother went there. Why didn’t you apply after high school?

Thanks guys! Unfortunately I did and didn’t get in I’ve always wanted to go there for as long as I can remember. That’s why in freaking out

That’s assuming your essays are good. It seems like everyone who posts on here has good grades and lots of extracurriculars. I think the real way to distinguish yourself is stellar essays. Last year over 2000 people applied as transfers and they accepted 170 or so. So, how do you set yourself apart from 2000 people who essentially look the same as you on paper? My only conclusion was by good essays and maybe a r
