I’m stressing so hard these days.
Lol

^ Yeah, it seems I didn’t stress at all until after I submitted all my apps… Now I’m going crazy. shrug

@lilahrosie it certainly is, wake up every morning to anywhere between 25-55 degrees to the gold topped Al Hajr mountain range. Didn’t appreciate it enough when I lived there. We’re pretty good with women in Oman, we have three female ministers I think (not that I’m bragging), and traditionally women don’t cover their faces or hair with a black veil, the abaya and niqab were actually fashions brought in from Saudi.

hello guys,
i got my access code yesterday and i realized that my school report and recs havent been received although i sent them by mail 3 weeks ago. Do you think i shud contact harvard now or should i wait for a few more days?
PS Im an intl applicant

Lilahrosie: I agree. We actually moved back to the States shortly after my mom had been pulled over for driving in our residential compound.

@anthony3
I wouldn’t worry about it, they are probably just slow in updating its status. The Common App says they downloaded my school forms etc. even though the application website says they haven’t.

anthony3 - yeah, don’t worry at all. either the Harvard portal or another school’s said that school forms wouldn’t be downloaded for another two weeks, so definitely don’t stress about it! they’re just getting all their stuff together. :)

@POmani Oman is definitely modernized compared to other countries in that nook of the world (coughYemenSaudicough). You have every right to brag with 3 female ministers! I don’t believe Yemen has had any, ever…

@karatekid666 oy that’s terrible. what happened to your mother? hopefully nothing bad, dear God. stories abound of women being lashed, and having their passports taken away.

Lilahrosie: fortunately, my mom had her American passport with her, so that barred any possibility of jail time or anything. But they still disallowed her from driving home; my dad had to leave work and come pick her up. It was pretty ridiculous.

@stupid

Saaammmme. Life is rough.

i hope i didn’t submit my app too late to get an interview :

@canadian - no such thing as too late! no matter when you submit it (provided it was before the deadline), they’ll try their best to get you an interview. I’m willing to bet that the majority of applications come in right around the deadline.

guize i want an interview but i live in the middle of nowhere… #foreveralone

have most of you already been contacted?

I just watched this movie “With Honors.” It’s about a Harvard student, which is the reason I watched it. If anybody is looking to fill a Harvard-sized whole in his or her heart while waiting for judgment day, it will provide distraction for a couple hours.

@littlekanagroo22 and anyone else curious, I had my interview about three weeks ago.

It was with this fantastic middle-aged woman at a Starbucks five minutes from my house. It was SO SO casual. I’m sure this partially depends on the interviewer, but still. It was just a lovely conversation; she opened with, “just talk, talk, talk and ramble and tell me everything about yourself.” Haha.

The interview was supposed to be around 30 minutes but it ended up lasting almost three hours. It really was just a very intellectually stimulating conversation. I was also very lucky because we were very similar. We both really disliked Freud and loved The Bell Jar, so we spent at least an hour just on those two topics alone. It felt very natural.

The only interview type questions she asked me were:
- Why Harvard?
- Have you experienced any extraordinary hardships growing up?

Some feedback that I got from her that could be helpful…(though, you smarties probs already know the ins&outs of interview etiquette)
*she really appreciated that I brought a resume (duh)
*she liked that I had questions of my own about Harvard (again, duh)

So yes. Overall, it was a lovely experience.

@unicameral - I haven’t been contacted. Only one interviewer has emailed me so far, so I’m still waiting on several schools. I turned in my app just a few days before the deadline, though.

Same here.
I submitted the 30th and so far have only been contacted by nm princeton

Sent from my SGH-T959P using CC

I havent been contacted by any school haha . :P

Hows everyone holding up? :O

I’ve only been contacted by Harvard. One of the nine universities I’ve applied to, and I know one of them doesn’t do interviews.

Of the three RD schools I applied to, I have only heard from Rice, but Harvard is the only other school that interviews
