i’m the opposite…high test scores but poor grades first two years of high school … hopefully they consider the upward tread haha

Is business attire really a necessity? I just got an interview email that scheduled me for Saturday (surprise!), which I’d be fine with except for the clothing part.

SkeezyJ yes I would say so. You’re trying to present yourself in the best light. I’d say business casual.

Alright. I guess I have to head to some clothing stores tomorrow then :(

I’ve got a 2130 and 4.0… But I have a cracking essay about participiating in the arab spring. And I’m an athlete (probably won’t get support though). So I guess it balances out, hey?

@SkeezeyJ - It depends on the venue. business casual is not necessary if you are just at a cafe. If you are visiting a law office, then maybe. But no interviewer is going to expect you to go buy clothing for an interview. Just a shirt with a collar, with maybe a sweater, and non-jeans and non-sweats pants (or skirt if a girl) would be fine, even in a law office. No one expects you to be dressed like an adult in a business office (which is the essence of “business casual”).

Alright, thanks! I have a button-up and some golf pants, so I guess those can work.

Yeah that sounds good!

AHH I’m also applying RD though I ain’t betting on myself, that’s fo sho.

question: does Harvard like upward trends? like HUGE ones? like a 3.0 freshman year, and 4.0+ for every year after? does my 2300 and 800 USH 770 WH and 770 Lit and the fact that I’m a first gen/low income/ Yemeni female make up for that terrible no good very bad year? ughh trying to adjust my expectations here :c

^yo Yemeni. Respect. I lived in Oman for 16 years.

I lived in Saudi for a year!

RD… Any tips on interviews? What to expect, etc? I have mine next week. Yikessssss.

@karatekid yes lad!

I’m pretty normal!

Good luck everyone!

I visited Cambridge last fall, and I really enjoyed the campus and the wider Boston area. It’d be incredible to get in, but I honestly don’t have the highest expectations (I’m a pretty ordinary white guy from the Midwest).

Still, good luck to everyone!

this process is really where i understand how hindsight is 20/20…so many things that could have been done differently, but not point worrying about that now

Just scheduled my interview! T minus six days… Also, my interviewer asked me to send him a soft copy of my application, so he has all my scores and my resume and essays and everything. Excited!

Has a date been set for decisions?

I think it’s 28/29 March

@POmani and @karatekid666 that’s cool! Oman’s a beautiful country, as is Saudi Arabia although personally I wouldn’t want to live there, you know being a free-thinking female and all…
