Radionowhere - My son has applied ED...I'm just obsessing along (or probably more than) him. Also...note that in your prior post where you calculate that 287 applied ED this year, that was based on a 13% increase over the 2007 ED applicants. I can't find a figure for the 2008 ED applicants, so I'm not sure how many applied this year. If anyone else can find the 2008 number. post away! (and good luck to you all!!)

Ha, wow. When my brother applied it was 50%. I, like casey, am obsessing. It's going to unfortunately be a low acceptance rate.

Regular decision I'm thinking Grinnell, Macalester, Fordham, Whitman, Colby, Bowdoin.

whitman business at syracuse? that cant be what you mean

oh and casey, i just calculated that myself, from the 13% increase and the 2007 number. the number itself i dont think has been released.

Haha, no, Whitman college in Walla Walla, Washington.

After much googling, I found the number of ED apps accepted for the 2008-2009 school year in the article below (Online Bi-Co News)...it was 108. So at least they varied from the 99-104 range last year for ED acceptances. It did not show the number who applied ED, only accepted.

I don't think early decision will be significantly more selective than last year. A decrease of 5% for a group of 300 or so is not terribly big (unless you are one of those kids in the margin). As for RD, I predict application rates will be constant or increase slightly.

If I don't get in, I will be applying to Amherst, Middlebury, Bowdoin, Kenyon, Carleton, Macalester, and Skidmore (plus maybe Swarthmore or Wesleyan), but I'm sincerely hoping that doesn't happen.

I'm applying RD to Bucknell, Muhlenberg, UPitt, Penn State SHC, and maybe Bryn Mawr, haven't decided on that one yet. I'm probably the anomaly here. But I hope I don't need to resort to sending these apps out.

Nah, you're not an anomaly... I liked Bucknell, but it was just in the middle of nowhere. Muhlenberg is 15 minutes from my house so no. The state schools are good safety schools for a Haverford applicant, and Bryn Mawr is basically an estrogen dominated Haverford. And you certainly are not alone with not wanting to send out the apps!

keenon - i got accepted to pitt! so maybe in the less than perfect circumstances, we'll still end up going to school together =]

on the bryn mawr thing, i was going to apply but i feel like it would be rubbing in my face every day the fact that i didnt get into hford.. =[ but lets hope we dont get to that point

congrats on getting into Pitt! I'm still waiting to hear back from them. Yea That's the reason i'm weary of applying to Bryn Mawr...
