Official January Sat 2 Math Level 2 Discussion Board

for the absolute value one abs x+3 less than 5. I ddont the letter choice but is the correct choice read as follows: the distance between x and 3 is less than 5? If yes what choice was that by the way. Thanks

nono
its distance between x and NEGATIVE 3 is less than 5
i know its weird
but its kinda like graphs when f(x+2) actually shifts to the left

I omitted 3, and got 4 wrong so far...
What do you think my score will be :(

i think i might get an 800

with 4 omitted how many can you get wrong and still get an 800? I think theya are all right but you know how some sneak up on you.

martiniblue, you can probably get 1 to 3 wrong and still get 800. Depends on the curve. Raw score of 45 usually still an 800.

Anyone who's taken the Math Level 2 test before today -- was today's test easier or harder compared to past tests?

i thought that it was ridiculously easy. i havent taken one before. all i did was cover 90% of barrons last night with all the exercises and half a practice test before i passed out.

what did you guys put for the max of sinx.cosx (I know the answer, I am just wandering if people fall for the trap)?

P.S. I meant besides the 4 omitted how many extra mistakes can I afford?

max sinx.cosx ? Definitely 0.5

spot on .

What was the "trap"?

Some people may think the answer is 1x1=1 lol

do you guys think this scale will be different than the 43-50 ==> 800, 42==>790, etc? it seems this one was a lot harder than the one in the collegeboard "Real SAT II" book

Hey, I don't know, man; I am in college and trying to transfer, so when I saw it I though kids might get it wrong. That's all. Sorry for underestimating you bright people. I remember that when I saw it in 9th grade I was like whoa I wouldn't have thought of that...

OMG why didn't I just plug the answer choices in the equation t get 2.98. AAAAHHH!!!

OK Updates

Skips:
1. the weird max(x,y) one that asked you to find the least value
2. the reciprocal one with 2.98 answer
3. the inverse of e one
4. can't remember

Wrong:
1. apparently the sine graph one which everyone says was 1 or 2 even though I'm 90% sure it was 3
2. perhaps the 0.06 one since everyone says the asked if the sum EXCEEDS 5
3. for sure the x^3=y^3 one

I need to trust myself that my intuitions are right with some of these controversial questions which everyone seems to have different answers for. Man, at least I'm confident that I got 750+...

what was the matter with the max question???
yeah the one with 2.68 or whatever was really stupid. i did solve the equation just to realize that it is a stupid computational problem.
how much did people get on the inverse e one?

Err,could you please post the 2.98 question here?

it's a concept from calc and is used in every delta-epsilon problem. i quess that's why they wanted to make sure that people knew what it was.
edit: this was a reply to a previous question - i don't know why it posted here.

we can't post the whole questions like that.
