It was bugging me that Hopkins 2013 transfer thread was the only thread that was missing in my thread of bookmarks for transfer school threads.. threadception! Sorry. Let's try to post our basic stats here, so that we can be of some use to the applicants for next year.

My basic stats-
College/ Major Applying to: Chemical Engineering
Entering as: Junior
HS GPA: 4.0
College GPA: 4.0
SAT II: Math II-800; BioM-770
Extracurriculars: Research, club activities, and voluteering. Going into details would mean that I will not finish my homework that is due at midnight.
Letters of Recommendation: 2 from college professors (2 for safe measures)

Comments: Well I did write a long comment about why I'm applying to JHU, my hopes and dreams, why I want to transfer, the next winning lottery number, and etc. but they were all erased due to faulty cc authentication system. Don't want to talk about it...

Now it's your turn! Le't share our questions, comments, or discussions here as a way to alleviate our transfer admissions stress.

It looks like last year's admission decision was released on May 16th.

UCLA Freshman, Poli Sci major
HS GPA: 92/100
College GPA: 3.86
SAT: 2180
SAT II: Math2 790, Physics 800, Chem 780
Solid essays
Rec: One strong from Math, one average from History
Research projects (both Poli Sci and Chem), volunteering, Polis sci society publicity committee, online translation group, etc.

I am only applying because JHU has very prestigious IR grad program, dunno how it related to me though, maybe get that highly competitive undergrad/master binding stuff.

FIU
3.9 GPA
No SAT/ACT
Applying for neuroscience

Interning as an EEG technician, research (neuroscience), volunteer, Peer Led Team Learning leader, club activities and will be going to Georgia Tech to participate in the 2013 SURE program (research project in chemical and biomolecular engineering field). I EXCELLENT rec letter.

I was a slacker in high school. Graduated with a 3.07/5.1 GPA. I do however have 30 AP credits and a bunch of ECs.

Transferring mainly to pursue my passion for neuroscience.

Hi I’m a fellow transfer student applying to JHU as well for Fall 2013.

My basic stats-
College/ Major Applying to: School of Arts and Sciences/Chemistry
Entering as: Sophomore
HS GPA: 3.75
College GPA: 3.86
ACT: 32 Composite 32 Math 33 Writing
Extracurricular Activities: Research Intern at Chemistry Lab, several clubs all geared towards my future profession of becoming a doctor, lots of volunteering, etc.
Letters of Recommendation: 2 letters, both from college professors.

Comments: Excited but very nervous about getting in since it is very competitive (only ~10% yikes!)

I also have an additional question to ask: Have any of you received any kind of email or phone call from Hopkins saying that they have received your application and are processing it for admissions review? I applied a month ago and still haven’t heard anything back from them O.o

They don’t send you confirmation emails. They contact you if any part of your application is missing so if you haven’t heard back then you’re fine.

@marty212: I have that listed as a requirement as well.

I received my ISIS log in last Tuesday, and this morning, I received another email from JHU, giving me a JHED ID to replace my ISIS ID. Did anyone else get their JHED ID yet?

Hey how generous do you think JHU will be with financial aid packages for transfers? Is anyone aware of how they have treated transfer students financial needs in the past?

^ But it should be irrelevant to applicants; it doesn’t affect quality or desirability, but rather only chance of admission, and that only for a few on the cusp.

So, does anyone on here have any idea of what kind of stats Hopkins is looking for? The threads from previous years weren’t really helpful, so I was wondering if any of you guys had knowledge regarding this. Also, I last checked their acceptance rate and it was actually 8% O.o Now I’m super scared…

Hey, I didn’t submit my SAT and SAT2s since JHU didn’t require them.
My scores are 620.710.700 & 550.770.620.
SAT chem for 730 and Math2C for 780.

I wasn’t sure about whether it’s good to send those scores, so I didn’t.
do you guys think I should have?
what are your scores?
approximately, how many students apply to JHU with their SAT and SAT 2s?

@lelouchFTW: I read on one of the Hopkins insider blogs that competitive applicants generally have above a 3.8. I’m sure if any of us knew exactly what JHU was looking for we’d be able to give a better perspective on our chances of admissions but I highly doubt anyone but JHU knows what they’re looking for.

@spark125: I didn’t submit my SAT/ACT scores either. I haven’t found any statistics on students applying with or without standardized tests. Regardless, if you’re coming in as a transfer student I doubt they would be too important since they don’t require them. I think your decision would primarily be based on your work in college with your high school record as being the least important aspect of your application.
