Official June 10th ACT Discussion

how about the circle chords one? I think it was E, a circle?

anonymous271828
I know that. I couldn't remember if that was the reason or not; I assumed so.

also was the answer to that trig question where one of the angle is changed while everything else is remained the same 46 degrees?

^^yes

for the 2x- 2 was there answer chocie of 1/2 -2?

76 feet? Is that the one you're talking about?

r u referring to the question that originally had 28.1 degrees for the right triangle?

if so, i think i got like 26 or 36 for the change in side length

Didn't ask for a side and not an angle measurement? Was that the one where it asked how much would a certain lenght have to increase if the angle opposite of it was 40 degrees?

that's the one I'm thinking of.

passed=experienced 100% sure

What about #52 on Math, with the T5=15 and so on...I put 528

cjones- yes that's exactly what im talking about... 26 or 36?? are you sure because me and some of my friends discussed this problem and agreed that it was 46

if that is the sum of the numbers 1-38 (not sure about the second number) then that is what i got

yes its 528...you had to see that the triangle things were 3x3, 4x4, 5x5 so I just added 34 or whatever it is to 33+32+blah blah it took a minute.

Idr but it's some 2-digit number ending in 6.

and yes, I got 528 for #52 math.

The 40 degrees one was 26

T32 was 496

yeah, for the triangular numbers, T32 = 16.5 x 32 = 528

ok for the question with original angle 28.1 and then if it changed to 40,

the measurement of the adjacent leg was 150 and the leg yoiu were extending was 80 (the opposite). & tan is opp over adj

so: tan 40 = 80+x/150 >>> (150 (tan 40)) - 80 = x

x = 46

no it wasn't because 32+31+30+29+etc..... +1 equals 528.... unless i made a careless

Overall thought of it:
English: for the most part easy
Math: much harder than usual but most of my guesses worked :)
Reading: i actually finished on time. woot!
Science: piece of cake. That conflicting viewpoints passage was so freaking easy. It was about students and basic physics, not to mention i actually finished the whole thing a few minutes before time was called, and i usually never finish.

I think the math was the hardest, and for me thats saying something because I am extremely good in math. The problem was the time.

Oh and the answer was 76 to that one triangle problem. I think the length of the side was like 15tan40, and then you had to subtract 80 from it.

i'm fairly sure

i said that tan 40 degrees was equal to x over whatever the length of the side adjacent to the angle was and found that the new side was 116 or something
