oh ya i remember that to .. i think i put A ... i think it was supposed to be b/t 22.25 and 23.75 something like thatt

^lol. that was choice A

ok. two things should be settled. for the reflection, i think, it was a. to reflect over the 1st line, you turned you paper so that the line was now vertical, and moved the point to the left. you then repeated that with the second line. and the books, 15 people bought two books, not 35. maybe an ETS trick? doesnt seem likely. i asked my uncle and he said 15.

Ok... you all are scaring me....

Take a look at slimshiney's picture.... U reflect P over the line K and then over L......... THUS YOU GET AN ANSWER OF B..................... I have NO idea how u get A,,, just fold the page.

does anyone remember how many gallons of popcorn needed to fill up the thing or something? I said 1 gallon since the popcorn expands 16x.

Also, for the books problem I read that 10 times(no joke) it said 35 people and 5 people.... thus 110 buy 1 book = 195.......

they were asking how many cups of popcorn and answer was 1. 1 cup unpopped = 16 cups popped = 1 gallon popped

1 cup popcorn, shimshiney's picture (while very nicely done) is completely inaccurate. On the test, I drew two very dark perpendicular lines (to lines l and k) and got A. Point A was in the third quadrant btw

Why and how would the book problem be a trick? I clearly remember reading that 35 people had exactly 2 books, because I multiplied that to get 70.

53=15
352=70

110*1=110

TOTAL: 195

Did I misread something?

i dont think so. was that even grid in?

for the whole books hting ... we are all thinking of diff numbers for the amount of bks that ppl brought ... but the process is still the same ...so i'm sure that we all go the right answer ...if we did it the right way

chemnerd

ok, you reflect P over line K and get C or B... Then you reflect over line L and get the only point there which is A. You are thinking too hard..

Oh that gallon question was HARD!!!
I think i put like a random answer of like 1 cup..

Hey guys can you all join marchsat1?

go to action and buddy chat, put your name to add and write the name of the room to enter

oh, wow. i didnt mean i think so to u julie. i think u may have misread.sometimes i have a inclination to work hastily, and that caused me to get 76 on PSAT math, but i thought it said that 15 people got two books. at least we agree 5 people bought 3.

Azn and proud, can u explain ur logic?

even if slimshiney's diagram is wrong, just look at it. it's not possible for the answer to be B. It looks like P will reflect to C. It'd be impossible for C to reflect to B; they are on the same side.

hmmmm.... darn lol

the reflection problem...i didn't even "know" that when u reflect a point of whatever, the line that connects the orig and the resultin dots has to be perpendicular to the axis (or line in this case) that the orig point reflects over.........i frickin assumed that the problem worked as if the drawing was a normal plane!! but no...it was tilted...i'm so mad

ok, if it did say that 15 people bought 2 books, then that makes the total number of books 175. People on previous posts were arguing between 185 and 195...

ok xojulie, now that u made that error, u are clearly incorrect because if you can add, 15 people bought two. therefore, they bought 30. 5 people bought 3. they bought 15. 160-15-5=140 who bought 1. 140+30=170.170+15=185.i now seem even more sure about my answer

What? Where did you get 160 from? I subtracted 15 and 5 from 150 to get 130.
15+30+130=175
I can add...

jake I put 185, but I think this is perhaps why people think its 195:

of the 15 people who bought two, 5 of them bought three. So in reality it was 10 people only bought two, and 5 bought three. Which would end up as 195

Can someone confirm the wording?
