I am not sure how many of you recall Gary Williams being criticized a few yrs ago because he refuses to play the recruitment game starting in 8th grade that many big schools do. I am just happy they are winning because it shows other coaches, that if you are a good coach you can have a great team. I hope that they go all the way this yr just to shove it in the other teams faces that you don’t have to start recruiting at the age of 13.

The ACC is not the powerhouse that they’ve been in recent past, but it is refreshing to see Maryland at the top of the conference standings…If they can keep playing this well, maybe we can see them in the top 25? THAT would be fun!

IMO, they should already be in the top 25. I will be infuriated if they aren’t after next week’s polls come out.

This is kind of old news, but Bud Millikan, head coach of the men’s bball team from 1950-1967 died two days ago.

The Terps take on the #21 Clemson Tigers tonight at 5:30. Let’s hope they can keep up the great play that they’ve had over the past couple of weeks.

Tough loss tonight. Maryland played TERRIBLY in the first half. They eventually got the lead in the second half but couldn’t finish. Once again, though, Jordan Williams played an amazing game. He had a double-double. Williams is the only player worth mentioning for Maryland. Vasquez played terrible + he had 4 fouls, Mosley played terrible + he had 4 fouls, and Milbourne played terribly.

Not only has Gary Williams been sleeping at the Comcast Center since UMD got back from playing Florida State, but UNC was apparently snowed into their hotel most of the day today (and couldn’t practice until late this afternoon).

‘North Carolina’s Marcus Ginyard tweeted on the situation earlier in the day: “I gotta feeling…we aint gonna make it to practice. Trucks can’t even get thru this.”’

‘“It’s difficult, number one, when you’re playing a good team like Maryland,” Kirschner said. “And, number two, the flex offense (of Maryland) is difficult to defend anyway. You’re trying to get out there and practice as much you can with a young team and now you can’t do that.”’

Debbie Yow (athletic director) also announced that they’ll probably let all students who come into the game, since people won’t be able to get on campus tomorrow afternoon.

This should be fun tomorrow…

[The change of plans meant the Tar Heels achieved an unusual “double” – two road trips in two days. The team had traveled to Virginia Tech, where it lost, 74-70, on Thursday night. It got back to its own campus at about 2 a.m. After players attended classes, the team left for Maryland at about 1:30 in the afternoon.] <– That had to be a fun Friday for the UNC team… back to campus at 2am, classes until 2pm, then on a plane, driving through the worsening storm, then practice. Fun…

AMAZING game today. Go Terps!!

Terps kicked some butt today! It was raining 3s.

I think it helped that there were a lot more students (70% students this afternoon) than usual… the atmosphere was different, but very fun. Maryland basketball games are always a blast. :)

I’ll be wearing UMD clothes (or hats) all week around Charlotte (NC)! Fun game!!!

Tucker!!!

What an awesome way for that game to end!!!

Oh man, that was amazing!!! I’m pretty sure the whole neighborhood heard me and my stepdad screaming after Cliff made that shot.

I’ve been a college basketball fan for a few years now and have to say that ended in a spectacular show of three pt prowess and just isn’t the way things usually go for the Terps. If we only could have beat Duke…

Ranks up there with last year’s win over the Tar Heels. Perhaps higher, and can easily be labeled the biggest shot in the History of the Comcast Center.

As to the biggest shot in Maryland BB history? I’d have to say this is a close second only to Drew Nichol’s 3-pointer in the 2003 NCAAs, and only because Nichol’s shot was on a bigger stage (NCAA game vs. regular season match-up).

I’n so happy my DS has had a chance to experience some of the highs of Maryland BB these past two years (Tar Heels overtime victory and this one) like I did when I was there (the days of Len Bias and Lefty Driessell). I warned him when he decided to go there: Maryland sports: they’ll give you days you want to shout for joy and party all night long on Rte 1, and days when they’ll just crush your heart in a grinder and serve it up to you on a platter.

Perhaps that is why we hate Duke so much. Their days of heart-breaking losses are few and far in between, and we can’t stand them for that.

Nay! We just hate Duke!

I was watching the game through Justin.tv on my computer, since we don’t get the locally televised games here in NY. I screamed so loudly when that shot went in at the buzzer that my husband thought I broke something! GO TERPS!

I especially enjoyed that it was the lead-off story last night on Sportscenter on ESPN!! That’s when you KNOW it is big!!!

GV’s shot (after the time out) made Number 2 and C Tuck’s shot made Number 1 ESPN TOP TEN Play’s of the Day on Sunday Sports Center. Unbelievable final minute… Lots of fun being there! Too bad Dickie V wasn’t there to say “AWSOME BABY”.

I’m glad I could watch it on one of my sports channel extras on cable. And, had Dickie V been there, I would have had the volume turned down. Way down. :p
