Official Maryland Basketball Thread

Higher seed than I expected (especially after Friday night), but heck, I’ll take it.

I agree with your analysis. Two very winnable games in the first weekend, especially the possibility of meeting a Mich St. team that has had some personnel discipline issues recently and looked kind of flat. But Tom Izzo ALWAYS scares me in the tourney, he just finds was to motivate his team to win at the Dance.

Now, a Terp / Jayhawk Sweet 16 match-up? My heart says that they can find some way to shine that night, Greivis can get another triple-double, and they could pull it off. My head, however says it don’t look so good. Just don’t want to hear that stupid “Rock, Chalk, Jay-hawk” chant. Talk about annoying.

Jordan Williams is picking the right time to shine. Going for your career highs in points and boards in your first tournament game is a good sign.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think MSU has anyone that really matches up well against him. Still, it’s Michigan State with Tom Izzo and some worker players, and as his team proved the other night, they always find a way to win (even if it takes a lane violation in the last minute).

Go Terps!

The path just got a whole lot easier thanks to Northern Iowa! Now Maryland needs to come out and play a strong game against MSU.

that was crushing

Arg. We had a family room full of people screaming. Here in NC, CBS decided we would rather watch Georgia Tech, so we watched most of the game on the laptops. However, they switched over to the last minute. Crushing is the perfect descriptor. I’m rooting for Northern Iowa to go all the way now.

That broke my heart. Man.

Such a sad ending to a great season. We love you Vasquez, Hayes, and Milbourne. You will all be missed.
