**OFFICIAL McGill Transfer Thread!**

Not sure how many other college students there are transferring (well, hoping to transfer) to McGill, but I thought I'd make a thread anyways. Just post your stats in this format:

Good luck everyone!

I’ll start us off:

Gaaaah, i dont know if it´s wise to transfer now or wait one more year =S, i fulfill all the prerequisites science courses u.U

Finally another transfer student, haha  Well, since you’ve already applied. just wait and see what happens. Worst case, if you don’t get in, you can always apply next year.

Transferring from (optional): Dalhousie University (BSc)
GPA/Average: 4.2/4.3
College Units Completed: 30
Program applied to at McGill: Sciences, Arts and Sciences.

Hello, here are my stats:
Transferring from : American state U
GPA/Average: 3.86
College Units Completed: 64 (quarters)
Program applied to at McGill: Sciences, Arts and Sciences.

When should we hear back? I applied in late december and the wait is killing me haha

Great stats guy. Unfortunately, my GPA might drop this quarter, to around a 3.7/4. Hopefully it won’t hurt my chances too bad for getting into Arts.

@nicopdx - As an American college transfer, we will hear from then any time between now and May 11th. We are notified earlier than Canadian transfers :p

Awesome where did you find that info? I’ve been looking everywhere! Anyway, since they are mainly focused on GPA, we should get in right?
Moreover, how is McGill seen by american top grad schools? Excellent, good, don’t know of it?

[Admission and entrance scholarship decision release dates](http://www.mcgill.ca/applying/decision/)

Scroll down to where it says “University Transfers from non-Canadian institutions”.

Also, they almost solely focus on GPA. I called them and they said they do not look at SATs for transfer students, even from the US. With that said, I’m not sure if will get in. I couldn’t find any stats about American transfer students getting in. Let’s keep our fingers crossed though.

Based on my knowledge, McGill is quite reputable among top American Grad Schools.

hi, I just want to know that if your status change ? my status is still “ready for review”
I dont know why it takes so long for them to process^^

Yup, mines is also still “Ready for Review”. They process transfer applicants last. What country are you from?

Btw, for those applying to transfer from outside of Canada, did you submit your SATs? McGill had my SATs on file from when I applied in 2009. Unfortunately, those scores were not good at all. I called McGill and asked if they would use those scores in the admission process, and they said no. They said they don’t consider SAT scores for college transfer students from the USA. Hopefully that’s true, or else I’m screwed.

I apply from NJIT in New jersey. I dont have SAT. I am just worried that they will require TOEFL cuzz I am international student though I studied for 4 years in US. A guy in other thread said they will try to finish up american applicants winthin next week. Hopefully we will get a decision soon.

I’m not 100% sure, but I thought that if you’ve attended school in the US for a number of years, TOEFL isn’t required. I would contact McGill Admissions and find out.

Also, American high school applicants will find out within the next week. It will be a bit longer for us (likely around May 11th).

I just want to know if anyone who apply as transfer student get any response from mcgill?

I’m still “pending” and was just wondering the same thing. I’m guessing it takes longer for transfer students to receive a decision?

Mine is redy for review. I dont know when they will look at my application. I want to get into che engineering but i heard that its very competitive because the department is small, is it true? I think i will get rejection

I’m still “Ready for Review” for both Arts and Management.

Same here. Not only it’s taking forever but we don’t have any news about it.

Well, in all fairness, the website does say that they will notify us any time between when we submit our application, and May 11th.

Alright, looks like they have started reviewing transfer applications. I had applied to two programs:

1) Desautels Faculty Management
2) Faculty of Arts

I first applied to only Management, then realized I did not meet the requirements. So I quickly added Arts as my 2nd choice. Today, I received the following updates in Minerva:

1) Desautels Faculty Management - **Refused-Missing Prerequisite/B

2) Faculty of Arts - Reviewed - Decision Pending

Now, to wait and see if I get into Arts. This is going to be a long wait. :p
