I wouldn’t worry all that much about having a good Econ professor per say. For instance I self-taught myself microeconomics for the AP test and got a 5, because it really is one of the subjects that is based on applying principles that aren’t really variable. So as long as you know you have the capability to self study, any econ course should do you fine.

i have a few questions again (: (and thanks dainese for the last reply XD!)
- if i can’t get a class for engl1A or engl1C this semester, can i still use my ap lit score to get me out of engl68? or basically: will my ap lit score be valid after this fall semester? (it is a 3 T_T)
- how often do the profs give ADD codes out on the first day of class D: ?? im still #15 on the waitlist for this certain class I really want/need ):
thanks!!

Yes, that AP Lit score goes onto your transcript. Just look at your unofficial transcript and you should see it.

Mt sac doesn’t have great Econ professors, but if you had to go with one, I’d go with either Dua or Chan.

I took Dua and got an A. He gives good extra credit.

@sunny -

jet covered it

depends on the prof
some are extremely strict and will NOT add over the limit. no exceptions.
number 15 isnt that bad. keep waiting. whats the class?

dont forget to pay your fees ppl. dont let the mtsac system drop your classes because you CANNOT get them back. you will have to re-add them if thats even possible. i belive this week is the deadline for dues and this is when classes may start to open up a bit

Deadline for fee drops is August 13th, and then for students who register after that the deadline is August 20th.

Thanks! I’ll try and take Dua. I’m willing to work hard but it is still my first semester so I could use all the edge I can get!

I’m on waitlist (#5) for afternoon econ but I’m debating on whether I should play it safe and register for a night class instead (lots of space available right now) I prefer not to take night classes though. I really wish you could take + waitlist for the same subject class.

night classes arent bad as long as you arent working.
better parking and its cooler lol

the only problem i found with night classes were that you tend to fall asleep or want to ditch.

i had…about 2 real night classes that dragged from 7-10.
they will put you to sleep…hahaha

I’m kind of the opposite in regard to night classes. I feel more AWAKE then morning classes . But to each their own I guess.

5 on the wait list gives you a VERY good chance of getting the class. I guess you are taking a bit of a risk by staying on the wait list rather then registering for the night class, but from my experience, you should be able to get the class.

Meanwhile, I’m still hoping they add another English 1C Honors class… but i doubt it. Dainese, if you do happen to speak to C. Kuykendall (Sp?) plz let her know we need one more! : ) I already emailed her, but I’m guessing she knows you better. Hey, it’s worth a try.

yea ive already spoken to her about it and shes trying to. but as you already know there are LOTS of honors students who need 1CH and if it does open, they will send out an email. the only reason a eng 1CH class opened for us is because she taught it. :)

and yea i know what you mean about morning classes. i hate them.
afternoon - evening is okay. but night classes were terrible for me…i found myself feeling really tired and not wanting to go lol.

then again i took rock history at night…and all we did was watch old rock videos in a dark room… :(

Do you think I would be able to petition for just ONE more unit? D: I would really like to take Financial Accounting THIS semester so that I am able to take Managerial accounting in the spring. (Financial is a pre-req) And it’s freaking 5 units so … ://

And lol yeah, I’m really afraid of falling asleep at night.

lol i honestly dont know…i would think you could. talk to linda…shes your best bet.
if you explain to her your dire situation, im sure she will understand and put you through.
if she says no…there is always a good reason and she will always have a back up plan. ALWAYS.

lol. yea i fell asleep in rock history almost every week…
3 hour class is too long to be watching movies in the dark…
im not even sure how i got an A in that class LOL!

EDIT: oh yea…because there were only 3 tests. and lots of extra credit and you were allowed to retake 1 test. lol WIN!
prof i took was carroll. hes great but a little on the weird side. he just straight lectures and you dont even need a book.

btw…i really suggest you guys rent your text books as buying them is really expensive and you rarely make the money back…
i wish i rented earlier duuring my transfer…i woulda saved a lot more money lol.

or atleast buy used off craigslist/other students. another way to sell your books fast is too save it for the next session and go to your prof again and ask to sell it on the first day and there is usually always one person who will want to buy it :)

Sorry if this is not the place but if any of you are taking history of jazz… I was a used but great condition history of jazz 3rd edition with both CDs… PM if you’re interested. I need to get rid of it asap because I signed up for history of jazz during the summer and I ended up dropping it.

Whats up Steve…haha I starting to regret my decision now going to CPP… I want to transfer out asap… I want to go to a top tier UC/USC so bad…

actually this is probably a great place to sell your book haha
as long as the forum moderators dont mind…

and dang…is it that bad? id try talking to a counselor to weigh ur options then. if you get the chance…id talk to linda at mtsac and def see what you can do because she will know much better than i will. lmk if you need me to go with you, it might be easier to talk to her that way.

but i know if your heart isnt at the school, your mind wont be either.

HI i really need help right now. i just graduated hs this june and i am going to be goin to mt sac this fall. I am going to be a 1st time freshmen and dont know what classes to take. im not quite sure on my major yet, so i really need help choosin core classes right now. on the placement tests i got enough to be in eng.68 and for math i took college level math test but dont know whether what math i should take in collge. i got less than 2 weeks to register someone pls tell me what classes i should register that would help me transfer later on . thx

What’s your intended major? Do you want an AA/AS before you transfer? Where do you want to transfer to? What did you place into for the math test?

^ what he said. need to know to help you.

@dainese:
I’m on the waitlist for biol1 w/ Marcia Hollenshead currently, I’m #8 (I used to be #18…) I am hopeful XD

cool beans :D

im pretty sure ull get the class

@ jetlogic / Dainese Well i plan to get an AS but not sure about the major i want yet. im still deciding whether i want to follow mechanical engineering or forensic scientst so for now i want to get some classes that wont affect major as much. on my math assessment test it says score/code 26 and i took college level math.
im currently in waiting list for eng 68 and history of the united states. would u recommend i try to take those 2? and what other classes should i take?

oh and about the online registration the pull down bar next to the classes with the options (drop b4 class begins/ web registered) am i supposed to choose 1 or just leave it alone ?its under the action section . currently its on “none”.
