@Dainese Thanks for everything…and best luck to you too in USC :)

@dainese

Ohh most transfer students don’t get there AA?

So I’ll complete IGETC requirements for UC/CSU, then I will transfer to either. Will I earn my AA @ the UC or CSU?

finishing the MT SAC reqs to graduate is really pointless ?

fall sems. begins tomorrow and I was wondering if I start class around 12 I should get there an hour before just to be safe and get a parking spot? Shud I expect alot of traffic around 12

@churroke - thanks and gluck to u too!

@nifloe - yea…not many get their AA’s
but in doing IGETC you are only a few units off from getting an AA if you choose too
i think you only need like 1 physical ed. course or something…i dont recall.

and i dont even know waht the mtsac reqs to graduate are…
i know more about transferring.

and arriving 1 hour early is good. traffic will be HORRIBLE. EVERYONE will be illegally parked. and i mean EVERYONE. and EVERYONE who is illegally parked WILL get tickets in time. even 1 hour early you will find it extremely frustrating to get a parking spot :(

so be prepared with whatever stress reliever you may need lol
first 2 weeks of mtsac parking is CHAOS.

some tricks ive learned to get good parking
- arrive a few minutes before the last class gets out. (ex. your class starts at 12:10 PM, there should be a previous class that ended at 12:00 PM, so if you arrive at 12 PM, students will be leaving and tahts your chance to get a parking spot.)
- park where you want to park. you will see this a lot at mtsac where students will park their cars to wait for someone to back out. you will see what i mean tomorrow.
- be patient.
- do not drive around desperately looking for a spot
- ask students if they are leaving and if you can have their spot (give them a ride if you have too lol)
- carpool
- try to avoid “dead zones” i call them dead zones because this is when all students are already in class and there will be almost no one leaving. chances of you getting a parking spot will be slim to none during these times.
be ready! gluck!

ok great, since it’s ENGL 68 -> ENGL 1A, there will be an engl 1a class during winter session right?

ok so tomorrow even if we’re still on waitlist should i go to that class? and what should i take the first day of school?

@nifloe - yup there will be unless some extreme budget cuts come out of no where…

@thatone - yes you should, because if people drop and you are on the waitlist then you will get added if enough drop.

im assuming you are asking what to take as in…bring to class…
bring a pen, something to take notes on, and something to hold papers.
thats all you need.

but if you are asking what to take as in…to take…take GE’s. lol

thx dainese yh i was referring as to what to bring to school. lol does anyone know if i’ll still be able to register for more classes during this week. and will classes start to have room, from ppl who decide to drop?

i have a feeling i won’t find parking inside, where else nearby can you park legal

you can park in the parking lot that is always open (cuz its across the street and everyones lazy to walk) but even that one may be full since theres so many students this time around…but that is almost always open.

http://www.mtsac.edu/maps/campus_map.pdf
theres the campus map
the lots that no one likes to park at are all the ones along bonita drive
if you follow the road down temple you will see parking lots S and R
ive never had to resort to parking here but then again ive gotten tickets lol.
so i could have avoided them.

there is no other LEGAL student parking other than parking in student lots.
if you park across the street in the stater bros plaza you have the chance of being fined/towed away.

when there was construction on grand/amar, students would have to resort to parking on residential streets lol. but if you do that now…i dunno what will happen. i think you can but parking in lots R/S is closer than the nearest residential street.

be prepared to do lots of walking.
mtsac is all hills so unless u can skateboard/scooter/bike really well…walking is your best bet.
gluck tomorrow everyone, rootin for ya’ll!

ohh parking lots S and R lmao…yea I’ll be sure to check there now along temple and Bonita if I can’t find any inside.

by across the street u mean lots W, S, R? I know B will be full for sure since its right in the front lol

yea W,S,R are the open ones.

the most poplar parking lots are H/G because its in the center of campus
and D/B is packed too cuz its usually for math/science students

@Churroke, transferring out in 2 years under bioengineering is extremely possible. I’m a biochemistry major and I’ve pretty much planned my classes ahead. I think what he meant is the competition for classes is what will get you behind.

All science majors are extremely competitive bio, biochem, bioengineering. They’re all majors that are equally competitive i’d say. Remember you don’t have to finish ALL the courses listed on the right side of assist.org. As long as you’ve completed majority of the classes under your major you shouldn’t have to worry much.

Anyways make sure you’ve completed 60 UC/CSU transferable units by the end of 2 years and remember that completing IGETC is not your priority when you’re a science major. I’d say the only reason you’d take classes out of your major would be for completing honors requirements (you need 6 honors classes for TAP/TAG).

@Vanguishfire I know prereq> igetc BUT I’m not qualify for most of the classes because I’m in Eng67 and not Eng68 so I can’t even take bio… And if I don’t get in Any prereq classes this fall… Should I still take GE courses?

ok so it wasnt that bad today. i got the code to add us hist so i got 2 classes registered. now imma see what happens tomorro with eng 68. can i still add courses? and how?

Wowza, so English 1C with McCormick looks to be a pretty effin’ intense class…

@churroke, you taking care of placement tests is your responsibility. You can still retake the Writing placement test to hopefully place you into a higher English class. Why didn’t you make an appointment to have your essay reviewed by a counselor? I believe she told me that less than 4% of students who take the placement test actually place in Eng1A. I placed in Eng68 myself and requested for my essay to be reviewed and the counselor seemed more than happy to override my score for Eng1A eligibility.

It might be a bit late now but make an appointment like I did. Call Mt. SAC and I’m sure the operator will direct you in the right direction to make an appointment.

@Dainese any clue about the parking spaces with meters? There were a few meters in the parking lot and I wasn’t sure if I needed to pay because I already have a parking permit. I payed just in case for today so it wouldn’t bite me in the butt later.

You always need to pay for the metered parking spaces

the parking was hell…wow

I didn’t park in any of the student lots also, Anyone have any luck by the lots near Bonita or Temple

Help!
@__@‘’ okay i think i am being delirious and confusing myself but…
do the graduation reqs for an associate degree apply to those who dont want the degree but want to transfer to a 4 year?
If I just want to transfer to a UC, do I need to just follow the IGETC??
I am worried because im not sure if i am even supposed to take the classes listed in the grad reqs for an associate degree… o_o
