**OFFICIAL Mt SAC CC TRANSFER THREAD**

Got lucky with parking today. Found a spot immediately. Leaving took like 20 mins though. smh Also couldnt get an add slip :(

@thatone - same way you did today  keep goin.

@vanqusih - AA is right. you will pay the fine if you dont feed the meter :frowning:
and thats interesting about the eng 68 thing! good to know
pass that info on as much as possible because the people who grade those english placement tests place almost everyone into 68 or lower ._.x i rarely see 1A

@nifloe - that bad huhā€¦it will be like this for the first week. 2nd week will be SLIGHTLY better but as the 3rd/4th week roll around it will stay consistent afterward.

@sunny - yea you are confusing yourself lol. unless you want an AA dont worry about mtsacs grad reqs. if you want to transfer, stick with IGETC. if you want to trnasfer with an AA then and ONLY then would you look at mtsacā€™s AA grad reqs.

@Vanquishfire ask the counselor to reevaluate? Which counselor? Iā€™m taking it againā€¦ Can u explain the whole process? Thanks

today not so well as yesterday. i wet to the eng68 class i was waitlisted and i didnt get add code :frowning: so guess i have tues and thurs off. can i still register or waitlist other classes?

@theoneotherā€¦ I didnā€™t get in precal eitherā€¦ Just wait for winter or springā€¦ Iā€™m sure weā€™ll get our classesā€¦ STAY POSITIVE :)

Today is a good day. Got bio 1. Hopefully I can get my math tomorrow since I couldnt get it yesterday :frowning: Gonna continue going and sit on the floor till they kick me out. lol

Ratemyprofessors is laggingā€¦ smh

Hi! Uhm I just got into one of my waitlisted classes today and Iā€™m having problems adding the class? I received my add authorization code or whatever and Iā€™m trying to add it on the Add Classes Worksheet. Now, is that the right place to add in the code? And the code is also only 4 numbers longā€¦ is that why theyā€™re telling me that the CRN does not exist? Iā€™m just so lost. Hahah

@isaberra to add the authorization code go to add/remove classes. Once your there uā€™ll be able to see the classes ur registered for and waitlisted. choose the class the code is for and choose the pull down option web registered. once u do that it should ask u for the code. and good luck :)

@churroke yeah guess weā€™ll have to wait till winter :)

I hope English 1C isnā€™t hard )= My mom thinks I shouldā€™ve just taken English 1A to ā€œprepā€ a little.

@thatone - you can continue to waitlist/add until the last day of adding. im not sure when this is though, generally its within the 1st week i believe. check with the prof to make sure :)

and winter/summer is much easier to get courses, but there are also a lot less courses offered. unfortunately spring/fall are super packed regardless of the amount of courses offered.

@black - nice! building up some nice classes haha. math and english are probably the hardest to addā€¦ :frowning: GL!

@isaberra - do that ASAP too.

@renouveau - its only as hard as you make it out to be haha
dont forget there is FREEEEEE tutoring offered at mtsac.
the writing center is right across from the honors center and i used to go all the time for english 68/1AH, they helped me so much that i didnt have to go for 1BH/1CH.

very nice and helpful people. and it never hurts to have someone proof read your papers, especially when it comes to getting an A.

Yeah I got English and Bio 1 ā€œregisteredā€ right now. Still praying for math 180 and hopefully get sociology friday.

Is it this crowded everyday during fall? Man it seems like its the Laker parade or something haha

yup it is. spring will be just as crowded if not more.
wait 2-3 weeks into the semester and it will die down a lot :)

i thot the crowd was normal for sac lol didnt know its only like this beginning of sems.'s

well at least itll get better from here

omgā€¦the authorization code doesnā€™t work! when my professor give me the codeā€¦I tried to add the class and it said ā€œAuthorization code Not Existā€ ??? :(

Hey guys!

Iā€™m looking to start a PBL chapter at Sac.

I was a member in FBLA aka Future Business Leaders of America (high school division) and loved the club dearly, and have competed and won 3rd at the FBLA State Leadership Conference. They are some of the best memories and experiences I hold from high school, and Iā€™ve met some amazing friends. I promise you itā€™s not as stuffy as it sounds! LOL we had some crazy times at these conferences, late-night talks in our hotel rooms, laughing as our friends tried to pick up girls from other schools, last-minute cramming for competitions, and being completely and utterly shocked at a club member who went into an event completely blind, no idea what was going onā€¦ only to take first place at state, and then going on to place at Nationalsā€¦

"Phi Beta Lambda (PBL) is the collegiate division of the association, FBLA-PBL. Membership in this division reaches 10,000 nationwide and is open to all postsecondary students who have an interest in business. The FBLA-PBL Mission is to bring business and education together in a positive working relationship through innovative leadership and career development programs. The mission is brought to life through the application of the motto: Service, Education, and Progress. " --PBL website

In my opinion, FBLA-PBL is a great way to network, develop leadership, and explore various aspects of the business world. I realize that there are actually several business-related clubs at Mt.Sac, but PBL is an actual, national organization, and there are certain opportunities that can be found through PBL that cannot be found elsewhere.

ā€œPBL isnā€™t just another student groupĀ—it gives members that opportunity to learn, travel, and grow as a business professional. (ā€¦) By taking advantage of the many programs that Phi Beta Lambda offers, students acquire the skills that will set them apart from the average graduate. They will be better prepared for careers, graduate school and for life!ā€ --PBL website

There are state and national leadership conferences with workshops and prominent speakers, as well as business competitions. Students can compete in anything from accounting, economics, marketing, web-design, computer programming, public speaking, digital video production, job interview, business lawā€¦ itā€™s a very large range, and students are bound the find an interest somewhere. Currently the chapters in California include CSU Fullerton, Claremont McKenna, USC, Berkeley, UCLA, UCIā€¦ etc. so I also think that by being in PBL, Mt.Sac students would be able to make friends all over California, and maybe even at a college that they hope/eventually transfer to. This is a great benefit, since as a transfer student, it is sometimes hard at adjust without knowing anyone.

For you competitive people, wouldnā€™t it be interesting to compete against students from colleges/universities all over California, or even against students from other states, to see where you stand NATIONALLY? And if youā€™re not that competitive, it never hurts to network, meet new friends, and attend workshops that can help you on improving your resume or at job interviewing.

Iā€™ve e-mailed a several looking for an advisor (waiting on replies now!), as well as the current CA state president at Berkeley (conveniently my high school prezā€™s older bro). He was actually pretty excited, and said that theyā€™ve been trying to get a chapter going at Mt.Sac for awhile.

As soon as I get an advisor, I will need some potential officers, so if that sounds like something you might be interested in, please PM me! And if it just sounds like something you might like to join, let me know anyways, so I can get an idea of the appeal of this club. :)

anyone know where i can buy a trig book for cheap? at mt sac book store its kinda expensive so i wanna know if theres an alternative. and i only have 6 units  so far

@churroke - notify the prof asap about that problem!!!

@ren - another great ideaā€¦you guys/gals are ambitious folk haha.
im really glad you are taking the initiative!

best of luck finding an advisor, after that it should be easy peasy.
hopefully you can get it all done before join-a-club then you can recruit!

gL!

@thatone - try half.com its usually cheaper. otherwise renting is always another option. chegg.com <<
6 units huhā€¦dang. if you cant get more consider investing all that open space into clubs/starting a club/student governemnt etc etc. rack up those ECā€™s to make up for time. internship maybe?

there is always the option of dual attending CCā€™s.

i also thought of attending rio hondo since its closer like 10 min away lol but can i do that? attend both? and havent they started already?

@Renouveau As you know, there is already a business club and a finance club on campus, you may want to discuss your organization with them because if all of those participants are the ones interested in things like business, they may be hesitant to join another club of the same general atmosphere/purpose even if you offer opportunities the others donā€™t.
