igetc: done by spring '11
tag: applied to ucd, uci, ucsd
tap: done with all honors courses by end of fall '10

ec’s:

^ When did you start? Fall 09?

You tagged 3 schools?

winter '09

i have around 48 units?
ill be able to complete 60 units by spring

yup tagging into sd, davis and irvine
ive got nothing to lose anyway right?

Damnnnn. Thats quick…

So I need to finish my pre-reqs by spring’12 oh gawddd… :frowning: :(

I thought you can only tag 1 school??

yeah i was looking through other threads :)

lol really? i was able to check off those 3 on the tag site. well all my apps are pending havent turned them in yet but will do tmr just have to make sure that what i did was right so going to the transfer center workshop.

^ Yeah pretty sure its just one school… Check with the transfer center to be sure.

Do you have to write personal statement for tag?

thats weird then why am i able to check off all the schools then…

nope just grades. :)

how are my chances for LA?

srry blackmamba, im not a TAG expert. so i probably am wrong since i never messed with the UC tag system. :(

i would say your chances for LA are about 75-80 percent.
but for your alt major probably 80-90.
maybe im jsut being harsh. did u try asking the UC peeps to chance you yet?

i chanced u at 75 cuz 3.6 might not be strong enough for psych at UCLA. psych is super impacted and with the budget cuts going down they will only want the top percentile of students. but dont let my chancing discourage you, im not on the UCLA board of admissions.

but just to compare your stats with my own…
my stats @ the time of applying were…
3.88 GPA, psych major, basically the same EC’s except i presented my own research at a conference. and id probably be finishing pre-reqs during spring 11 as well. TAP as well.

but overall you are looking good for psych @ ucla, and GREAT for linguistics/psych at ucla. ive spoken to the UCLA reps about it and they said its cake getting in with that ccompared to psych lol

hmm by the end of fall ill prolly have a 3.67- 3.7? not too sure. and i think ill be presenting at the human trafficking conference as well. is that the research that you did? idk yet but i heard that takes a lot of hard work…

oh god now im debating if should just switch to linguistics/psych as my 1st major since im into linguistics too i speak 3 languages and have gone to highschool in a diff country. but then im also considering if i should do that as my major then switch to psych when i get accepted.

as for usc i havent even checked if the prereqs are the same… lol

and… do we really get considered for the alt major once you complete all 6 honors and get tap certified?

i really have a lot of questions haha

ask Linda… I think she’ll give u a better explanation than any of us.

@Dainese… Just curious u still in sac? I thought ur in USC already…

^ Nah he’s at USC… and yet he still puts time and effort to come here and help us. Thanks so much dainese. :)

yea im at USC right now, so a lot of the info i have is either outdated or just wrong cuz i dont remember 100 percent. so always be sure to double check :)

and no problem, im glad i can help haha

@futurebruin - first, changing majors after getting accepted is difficult at UC’s, so dont bet on it. but since psych and psych/linguistics is so close, it would seem possible. and yes i believe you are still considered for your alt major. i dont see why not haha

again, confirm all this with linda.

and USC has completely diff pre-reqs. if you finish IGETC and go to USC, isntead of being a junior you will be a freshman or a sophomore.

@Dainese… Do u mind giving us the website for USC? …like assist is for UC thanks man

hey guys i have a quick question. i initially wanted to get into UCI as a business administration major, but i would much rather tag there as so im willing to change it as a business economics or business management major. the problem? if i want to change it to the business management major, i’ll only have 1 pre-requisite not completed (math 280) and if i change it to the economics major then i’ll have 2 pre-requisites left (math 280 and math 285). my question, could i still tag to uci as any one of those 2 above mentioned majors with 1 or 2 pre-reqs left? i will have 60 units completed, but im not so sure i’ll have igetc done and im currently in the honors program with 2 honors classes done, and i’ll try to get 4 more done during winter 10 and spring 11 btw. sorry for the lengthy post lol, but i really appreciate the help. thanks!

i dont know much about TAG, but i believe you do NOT have to have pre-reqs finished, but you do need IGETC.

try asking the UC transfer fourm, they will def know. or ask linda in the honors center :D

@churroke - USC:Transfer Planning Guide;

@Dainese …I did a little search for FAFSA for USC…it’s around 43,000$ …do you know what a full time student in USC pay a year? cuz…if it’s around there…then I think it’s definitely worth apply…since it’s higher than LA now. Thanks

the average costs of attendance at USC for 2009-2010 was 53,000. keep in mind avgs are skewed when really rich students live in 1500$ condos

of course this number will only go up.
this semester, my tuition + other fees (not living) was about 17-18k.

Just 18k? I thought the tuition was like 900 a unit and books are like 500… And My friend thAt goes to usc said there’s quiet a few room near USC for 300$…so if tuition is around 53000$ and financial aid does cover that much… Then it’s the same as uc
