@lightness - cool beans. good info to know about the english test.

french horn huh, that awesome. if your son needs help with counseling at mtsac, i suggest you stray away from them haha. ive had nothing but bad experiences with them. EG, the times ive gone in, theyve given me nothing but the wrong information.

but if your son has a good experience, please recommend us the name of that counselor haha. otherwise…the contributors to this thread are more useful.

as for calstates…getting accepted is extremely difficult right now. harder than some UCs actually. reason being…budget cuts. from what i understood and was told by the honors director at mtsac, getting accepted into calstates means you are a 3.8 GPA or higher. otherwise you are waitlisted/rejected.

and actually my cousin who had a 3.5 history major, got waitlisted to CSF then rejected, but got accepted to UCI and UCR. sadly, CSF was his first choice too…

but the counselor to talk to is linda diaz. she is in the honors office and you need to make an appointment with her. expect a waiting time of 2+ weeks haha. but it is always worth the wait. she is hands down, a life saver.

@Jjorianst32 - isnt de anza a CC?

when you take classes at 2 CC’s they all transfer over to your university or college that you transfer too, (as long as they are transferable of course)
and they will know. cuz they will ask for transcripts/academic records of ALL colleges youve attended.

i hope that answers your question.

@churroke - i agree with blackmamba. unless you can pursue what you WANT to do, its not worth the investment. since you would be transferring over as a sophmore, couldnt you technically go in then switch majors to science? lol.

or would that break some “contract” and youd get kicked out?

either way…at mtsac you have the choice to pick a UC or even a private like USC :). once u go to UCR, its much harder to jump from UC to UC.

and…NOT TRYING TO BASH ON UCR SO PLEASE DONT BE OFFENDED,
but ive never heard good things about it.
these are the top 3…partying, its hot/lonely, and its stereotyped as the school for rejects.
