blackmamba…you’re in Eng68?

@churroke - blackmamba is correct. you would basically apply now, and have X amonut of units in progress and X amount coming in the spring. however a 3.0 GPA IMO is not strong enough :(

the people that apply are generally ones that have 2000+ SATs and 3.5+ GPAs

and sometimes admission is provisional. most freshman applicants will receive a SGR (spring grades request), but some get accepted without them.

@blackmamba - go to the honors center and fill out an application anytime soon or around finals week. if you look on the application, you can apply anytime and what would happen is you check that your courses are currently IN PROGRESS and then arond finals week you have the profs write your current grade cuz usually it stays there and sign off on it. once you have that done, you take that in to carolyn and basically you should be accepted if you meet the requirements. they understand that winter registration is midway, so they try to compensate with this process.

your best bet is to talk to carolyn or linda about it. even though you arent in honors…just really show to them you want to be and that you are taking the classes to get into honors. :)

Dainese…what is the other way to apply for USC besides this?

*gasp! please don’t say “there’s no other way”

oh dear no. HAHA if there was no other way, id be screwed too

the other way is to accumulate enough units so that USC doesnt look at your hs records. supposedly 30+ is when they stop. but i dont buy it. 40+ at the time of applications to be safe and have around 10+ in progress during the spring. thats how i did it.

Haha …what a relief… But Does prereq matters for USC?..can I just transfer after completing igetc and does eng68 counts? Thanks man

@ Dainese: Ok… I will try and do that. Thanks.

@ Churroke: Im in Eng1A. I took Eng68 over the summer.

Pre-reqs do matter for USC… if you look at the articulation agreement, it says you dont have to finish all pre-reqs but the more you finish, the stronger candidate you are…

I believe Eng68 does not count…

USC:Transfer Planning Guide;

@churroke - blackmamba is right. if you finish IGETC, you’ll be screwed for USC because so little units from IGETC transfer over to USC. and the same is true with USC’s GE’s transferring over to IGETC.

so USC basically wants you to dedicate yourself almost ALL or nothing lol.
it sucks i know. its a gamble. so think about it.

but first get into honors and talk to linda about it before you make any decisions. :)

Are u serious? Man…and I just found out that I need trig before I can get physic…and I can’t take it because I have precal set for winter and cal for spring…what am I gonna
Do… Fall already started…I’m so screw

@ Churroke: You can try retaking the math placement test so you can place into higher math…

But if you never taken trig before… I recommend you take it before you take physics since physics uses trig…

I got into Precal and trig. But trig is a different category. It needs to have both a satisfy placement test and taken either geometry in sac or hs, which I did in hs.
But the problem is time.
I’m planning to take precal in winter and cal in spring of next year. (so far before linear algebra)
where do I place trig? I NEED THIS COURSE to get PHYSIC (I’m a physic major)
AND WE “CAN’T HAVE TWO OF THE SAME CATEGORY” another words can’t have two math class in the same semester. SO *** RIGHT NOW!

hmm…im not sure on this one. id try talking to a counselor but i doubt they will have anything useful to say…unless its linda. but i think she would just tell you first…to stop wrrying. second, finish whatever is more important. and since you are a physics major, then take trig in the winter and push back precal/calc

I ask a dude… Who has been in sac for 9 year! Because he didn’t make it Cal state…then UC… Now he’s try for USC. How can anyone not worry about this might happen :(

^ Relax man… as dainese said, take trig in winter so you can do precal and physics in spring…

9 years is completely unreasonable if you stay focused and aren’t deterred due to some personal reasons. i would NOT be taking advice from him LOL

i understand how it is a problem to juggle pre-reqs and other GE’s but plan accordingly to what is more important when it comes time to transfer. if you are a physics major, the i would believe physics is much more important than math. although math is really important as well, but you will still have a lot of time to take it.

if you are really fretting over it, talk to linda. even if you arent in the honors program, tell her you have the intention to join and you need to figure this out as it is very important to you. :)

I’m a Engineering major(bioengineering) …thanks for the support…would it be better to ask once I’m in at least eng68? I feel with my low writing class and subject unrelated class this semester… I still have a LONG way to go before they actually consider my application form. Btw… The dude I’m talking to is always the first in class and always ask question and turns in assignment on time…no joke…

I feel really embarrass to ask them…since my writing class is so low (imight not get in eng68 by winter) …if I don’t pass the placement test to eng68 in oct

so yeah, im going to pcc. im going to get in classes that start in october and just go from there. i will also be signing up for the scholars program. however, i heard those honor classes are extremely difficult. my friend, who passed all 7 of his ap classes in HS, barely scraped a B gpa while in honors. he left the program after his freshman year. anybody know anything about that??

oh and speakbraille, do you mind my asking why you backed out of chapman? and what do you think of pcc’s scholar program? is it really difficult? and is pcc really as depressing as everyone says??

Depressing? haha Are you comparing to Mt SAC?
