Hey guys, winter schedule is up!
http://www.mtsac.edu/schedule/credit/winter/complete.pdf

hey guys…just had a thought.

Does UC care if you get a B on a “non-credit” course like Eng 67 or 68?

not really, but the B will effect your GPA listed on your application,
but if you get accepted, then B will NOT transfer over :)

you will only get a GPA for credits that are transferable.

oh okay thanks…so the B won’t affect my overall admission decision?

well i dont know how the admission process works so i cant tell you whether or not it will or if it wont…but i believe at first glance it MIGHT be a bad thing. but once they notice its for a non-trasferable course, it probably wont mean as much after that.

just make sure to keep your grades as high as possible!

Hey guys on the Mt. Sac calendar it says Fall Semester ends on Dec 12 2010 and winter intersession begins Jan 10 2011. so from Dec 12 - Jan 10 I got no class obviously right?

then it says Winter intersession goes from Jan 10 2011 to Feb 20 2011. After that it just lists a bunch of holidays.

when does Spring Semester begin??

good question…although its not listed on the site…

i found it in the 2010-2011 student handbook. kinda like those small agenda things. they are free btw. get them, theyre very useful!

spring begins FEB 28th. so you get a weeks break before you start all over again…

ok thanks!

but if you decide to pass on taking class during winter session then you would be off from Dec 12 - Feb 28 right?

I’m not planning on doing that but I was just wondering.

yup, freeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Has anyone had R. Hatch for Honors Soc 1 or A Chang for Chin 1? I think those are going to be my two winter classes, if I can make sure they’re not crazy grade destroying people.

@jet - you got pm. :D

How many credits are we allowed in winter session? is it 4 or something?

and when Registeration begins in like Nov 17 or something, do you just go on the site and start looking for classes or is there a process?

I believe the credit limit is 7 if you’re in good standing, but you can petition for more if you meet certain requirements.
Registration is on a type of lot basis. Each student gets assigned a date to register on or after the 17th. So if you’re a newer student without priority, chances are that you’re not going to get an early date. If you’re in AS/DSPS/EOPS/Sports then you’d get an earlier day.
The class schedule is out now, so you should find the classes you want, and backup classes if you don’t get the ones you’d like.

Ok great. How are we notified of our assigned dates? our MT. SAC portal?

if i recall…you dont get notified about your assigned registration time. you have to check it yourself on myportal under the studend tab. and click “registeration time/date appointement”

something along those lines…

Do u guys recommend talking a pass/no pass for Eng68? Will it look bad on ur record when u transfer??

Hey guys so i’m taking Trig this semester. Not doin so well… and i know last day to drop with a w is this friday. And i don’t know if i should drop it or try and pass it. So i was wondering if i decide to stay in the class and i happen to ffail it, and i take the class another semester will the grade i receive the next semster show up in transcript or will the f still show up too.

@churroke - im not sure how pass/nopass works with transferring, but since eng68 isnt transferable id assume its okay. double check with people though.

@thatoneotherguy - if you drop it and take the W, you will still eventually have to retake it right? if you keep going and pass it with a C, you cannot retake it. if you fail it, you can retake it, and your higher grade will replace the F; however, universities will know that you retook it cuz by the grade it will show some letter. i forgot which. but basically they will know that you retook. as for why, they wont know…so if you were going through some “extraordinary circumstances” then it could be possibly forgiven.

i really dont know what to tell ya lol. if that were my situation, id drop it and retake it. dropping it works the same as failing, they will know. (i think, double check on that)

if you can, try to talk to linda diaz by friday. shes located in the honors center. she will make your decision 10x easier.

A few questions:
- does anyone know what the connect 4 student mixer is about? I registered for it already and I tried to find out more information about it but what I got were just really vague details :T All I know really is that there will be counselors present to help students choose their classes for the winter so idk if that means they are just helping ppl PLAN what they WANT to take or actually going in and giving us a first pick at classes or something :T (like how they did it in the summer…) Gah I really wanna take Engl1CH T__T
- & does being connect 4 even matter anymore for winter semester in helping newish students get their classes?
- What is the email from the Honors Program supposed to say? All I got was “You have been added into the Honors Program. Welcome to the Honors Program.” I was like wow that’s it? (As in no instruction to do anything else?) I’m just afraid the rest of the email got cut off or something D: Am I just freaking out over nothing again TT;;?
thanks n__n v

@sunnyB…I asked them that in summer. They told me connect four is ONLY for fall of our incoming year…and from now on…we’re the same as every else…based on our credit for registration dates. Hope that helps.
