I was just talking to some 2nd years here and I was telling them about how I am aiming to get out in 2 years when they were like O__O ITS IMPOSSIBLE TO DO THAT.
Are they right??? D":
My main goal is to get out of here… to be honest, coming here makes me feel so sad ): I want to LEAVE asap!! I know it’s not good to rush, but I feel like I’ll really give up entirely if I have to stay 2+ years…
My major is a major that doesn’t require a lot of pre-reqs (I have 1/7 done and am going to have 2/7 completed by end of winter session and hopefully 4/7 done when spring comes around if I get the classes-- which are not popular classes) and I have some AP credit so does that give me a leg up… ;;
They were saying that even as sophomores, getting classes is a huge challenge ): … I knew it was bad but the way they made it sound was like it was the hardest thing ever…
what do you guys think?
thanks~

^ Man you’re talking to the wrong people. Impossible? Com’on look all around this forum and a lot of people are getting out in 2. Dont listen to that BS.

Also getting classes doesnt depend if you’re freshmen, sophmore, it depends all on UNITS. someone can be a sophmore and have 20 units while Im a freshmen and have 30 units.

Guys am I really **** outta luck for getting classes for winter?

@sunny -i completely agree with blackmamba. he has been getting his classes and is clearly on top of things haha. theres a reason why they have remained longer than 2 years. if you take 4 classes a semester and 1 class per intersession, theres no reason why you cant transfer in 2 years. thats what i was doing and could have easily made it out on time :)

and like u said yourself…your major has little oddball pre-reqs. dont fret. stay focused and you will be out in no time. trust me…ive been there too haha

and yea. class goes by units. so if your a 2nd year iwth 20 units, you are still considered a freshmen by UNITS. but a sophomore by year. but no one cares how long you’ve been there…they care about how many units you have. and plus, is it really something to brag about if your a junior, or a sophomore, with only 20 units?

talk to honors students. most of them haul ass and get out in less than 2 years. theres a large attitude difference in community college amongst the student population…and whoever your asking is apart of the large sample that isnt AS motivated as others.

however…for some science majors, 2 years can sometimes be difficult. but still do-able.

@nifloe - what class are you trying to get? any alternatives at all? any GE/transferable course you can take? waitlist anything you can! and wait for the financial fee drop date.

@Dainese omg! thats right the drop date! Yeah im definitely going to wait for that. Honestly I have no idea what to take. It would be nice if I could get a Math 71 or Engl 1a or something. I’ll have to look at the igetc papers i have for other classes

@nifloe- If you really want classes, you should try checking for available classes ten to twelve times on a daily basis. Waitlist spots tend to open throughout the day. My friends thought I was being obsessive when they saw me doing this, but I’ve managed to go from having nothing because of a freshman registration date to adding Elementary German and getting on the waitlists for a handful of other classes by doing so. It’s all about being patient and persistent :)

@everyone- I’ve got a question. I’d like to someday get into the Psychology graduate program at UCLA, specifically the behavioral neuroscience track. There are two undergraduate programs I am currently looking at: the B.S. in Psychobiology that UCLA offers and the B.S. in Psychology that UCSD offers. Although I’d like to go to UCLA for both my undergrad and graduate years, I’ve recently learned that UCSD has a neuroscience and behavior track in it’s B.S. program, which I am inclined to believe would increase my chances of getting into the similar track at UCLA for graduate school. UCLA is my preffered choice as a school, but UCSD seems to offer a program that can give me more of an advantage at getting into the graduate program of my choice. What do you guys think?

@lachesis - thats tough. im in psych as well anat14444nse to anyone) i just didnt like the feel of the campus. but at USC i really liked the atmosphere of it all. and i knwo UCI and UCLA have some of the strongest psych departments while USC is …well not so awesome as UCI/UCLA. despite knowing this, i still chose USC.

have you visited the campuses yet?
if you dont care for campuses/students/home feeling type deal…then UCSD would be the logical choice.

school is tough enough as it is…i think students should atleast go to a campus where they will be happy; therefore excelling in every aspect of life. YAY! :)

btw, UCLA has a progressive masters/doctorate program for psych. as always, try to talk to representatives from both schools during college fair, emails, or visits.

If we got waitlisted for a winter class, when are we supposed to pay? After we get the add code?

^^^^ Yeah.

anyone worry about grades?

Why is it that PCC decides to make the waitlist pool even bigger for spring semester? 15 people waiting list…guess I can’t anything for spring.

can anyone open the MtSac email? it said no connection

@speakbraille: yea, PCC changed their waiting list system. However, their system been down for a day now. Nobody were able to register. When is your registration date? Mine on the 15th, I hope I still able to get the class I wanted on that day.

@Churroke: I can’t open the MtSac email either, I been trying since last night.

How do I view my grade? I e-mailed one of my professors and she told me my grade in e-mail but my other prof doesn’t have her papers and said she posted online so I should be able to see them.

I checked under Student Records -> Final Grade and Grade Detail but nothing.
