@jet - even though im no longer there, the events i enjoyed the most were college fairs and having transfers come back to mtsac and speak to students/answer questions.

@nifloe - yes 110 is after 71. math 61 pertains to select majors. and yes, once you finish 110 you are done with math UNLESS you choose a major that requires higher lvls of math (engineering, physics, etc)

How much does Honors really matter?
Let’s say that two people were trying to get admitted to UCLA for the same major. Person A got a 3.9 GPA without honors classes and Person B got a 3.5 with honors classes. Wouldn’t it look better with the higher GPA? I know that they want to see a rigorous course load, but I’m just trying to decide whether it’s worth it.

@ vanquishfire -I wouldn’t give up. I know people that managed to add several classes on the first day without being on the waitlist during the winter semester… so hang in there.

I know to transfer to USC, some majors require “foreign language.” I took two years of french (French I, French II) in hs and I was wondering if it fulfills the requirement, like it does for IGETC. I know that IGETC and USC’s GEs are different, but I didn’t understand the description of the foreign language requirement on USC’s website. I think Dainese would probably know the answer because psychology is a major that requires foreign language , but if anyone else could help, that would be great.

eh i forgot if HS covers the language department but i believe it doesnt.
but double check to make sure. you need to go up to language III anyway.

so your best bet is to review french like crazy, take the french placement test and either place into french 3 or place out of it and skip the language requirement all together :)

like u said, for USC it depends on your major. anything under “college of letters arts and sciences CLAS” has to take a FL up to lvl 3

for UC’s its generally 1 lvl of FL. unless your majoring in some language area.

@uschopeful - lol what? party scene? nonexistent.

gotta understand that a ton of students at CC’s in general are commuters.
and unless you’re willing to drive out and party with a bunch of people you dont know…dont expect much partying

i only went to…maybe several parties with students from mtsac, but we are a really tight knit group of 5, all of which i met through honors :)

That’s the answer I was expecting, but I wasn’t entirely sure.
I know for UC schools you need at least 60 transferable credits to transfer for junior year, but what is the minimum at USC to transfer for your junior year?
I didn’t do well in hs, so I’m trying to transfer with solely my college GPA, instead of with the grades of the past.

the minimum to transfer to USC is 30 units, however they will look at your HS records,
i believe over 40ish is when they no longer do so.

i graduated HS with a 2.07 GPA and transferred to USC with 46 units. so they def did NOT look at my hs records :P

to be considered a junior at USC you need 64 units, but you wont be a junior till youve finish all your GE’s and you cant do GE categories 4/6 at a CC. they are only available at USC.
