Ive been meaning to say thank you for the speedy reply and great advice Dainese, you really helped me out that day

no problem :)

im rootin for all of you transfers haha
if you guys end up graduating honors and attend the honors celebration
i might come back and congratulate each and everyone of you personally :D

@Dainese “so ive seen people do it in 1 year, but they are beasts.”
STEVE, did you just call me a beast?! LOL

Hi guys! I didn’t know Steve created a thread for mt. sac! lol I go to Mt. SAC too and I just want to let you guys know that Mt. SAC was the BEST decision i’ve ever made in my life. hands down. I absolutely LOVE this school, not only was I able to take a year of college for free, but I also got to get two years worth of courses done in ONE YEAR! all i have to say is, take advantage of EVERYTHING mt. sac has to offer, which is A LOT.

I was here for one year, I got to be V.P. of Honors Ambassadors club, Project manager of Students in Free Enterprise, and Academic Senator for Associated Student. ALL of which i recommend you guys to join because they are THE best extracurriculars on campus! and they really helped me get accepted into all the colleges I applied to!

I don’t know if steve mentioned this, but I believe that for a freshman’s first year, you DO get PRIORITY REGISTRATION, as long as you ask for it in the fall.

TAKE ADVANTAGE OF FRESHMAN PRIORITY REGISTRATION. take as MANY classes (5-6) that you can that semester because that is the only semester where you will actually be able to get the classes that are the most popular!

really guys, just keep up your GPA, join the Honors program, sign the TAG agreements, and UCLA & USC will be easy to get into!

also, I believe if you join the EOPS program, you can also get priority registration.

are u sure freshmen get priority??? im not aware of this. i know connect 4 students do. but any other freshman…not sure.
i know when i first started i didnt get any priority registration… :(

and yes, you are crazy for doing it in 1 year haha.

They might have changed it this year but in Fall 09 when I was an incoming Freshmen I didn’t recieve priority or any other freshmen I know. I know Athletes, EOPS. Connect 4, and Performing Arts students get priority.

Ilovemtsac: for the EOPS program, all you have to be is low income?

I really hope that freshmen gets priority registration in the fall…

I really don’t think they do. The Freshmen Priority comes from connect 4 mostly. The idea that all F get priority kind of defeats the system of registration anyways. The higher your units, the longer time you’ve spent at SAC, the better your grades, and if you are full or part time is how you get a better date. Incoming freshmen have none of these thing yet. Which sucks, but we all start as the bottom feeder sometime.

i agree with flutie, i dont think being a freshman will ever have an earlier date than seniority.

Yes, they actually do. It’s just a lot of people don’t know about it. You have to register at Mt. SAC early as a first-time college student incoming freshman and register really early. I told all my friends to register on the same day as me and they all got priority registration. I know four people that got this. Maybe you guys should call in to make sure? I got the very first date, that was how I was able to get my accounting class :)

Although I’m not exactly sure, you guys should really call in just to double check because it was a blessing to my schedule and really helped me finish everything in a year.

To be eligible for the EOPS program, a student must:

Be a California resident
Be enrolled as a full-time student (12 units or more)
Have fewer than 70 degree applicable units
Qualify to receive a Board of Governor’s Enrollment Fee Waiver under Method A or B
Be educationally disadvantaged

wow nice michelle…thats epic!

good to hear. for all of you that are on this thread, please confirm it as many of us are transferring or are no longer incoming freshman!!

@ ilovemtsac

Be a California resident *check
Be enrolled as a full-time student (12 units or more) *check
Have fewer than 70 degree applicable units *check
Qualify to receive a Board of Governor’s Enrollment Fee Waiver under Method A or B *check
Be educationally disadvantaged * (not sure) Im eligible for Eng 68 and Math 180

Do I have to have all of these items to qualify?

I think I registered really early. I registered my junior year in high school for a summer class but never took it… I re-registered again this year in the first week of April and got June 11th as a registration date for Summer 10. Dont think thats a priority date though… haha

@blackmamba
I’m not quite sure what it means to be educationally disadvantaged, I know that the program does make you get tutored? I don’t know if it just means you need extra help in your education or if there is actually a defined “educationally disadvantaged” student. You should call them and ask! And also register for fall too! I re-register for every semester just in case

And yeah last year I didn’t get priority for Summer, I only got it for Fall.

FYI, I just checked the Summer classes being offered this summer and the situation is a little miserable. Pretty much all classes closed and the wait lists are filling up fast. Probably full by the end of tomorrow or the day after. If you have a plan B, I’d start working on it. :/

yup…waitlists are killing everyone with friends. blackmamba knows what i mean haha

Haha yep.

Classes I wanna take still have some good spots left. Hopefully it takes that way for 9 more days…

How many classes can we waitlist at once?

I’m not sure how many you can waitlist, but it probably has to stay under the allotted units? So you can’t waitlist for 10nunits because the unit max for Summer is 7. You can’t waitlist for classes that have time conflict either. So if you have an econ class and a soc class both at 11 on the same day that you want to waitlist for, the system will not let you.

Good luck on your classes! That waiting and watching always kills me.

:T does anyone know when they will send over the connect 4 information? they said they would send it to me by mail… but nothing’s come yet ):
i really want to be part of that freshman priority registration thing u guys were talking about earlier loool if there’s such thing, though…
and just checking: if my counseling for classes is on June 10th, is the date okay? Well, I’m meaning to ask, am I on track?
And what should I do to get ready for that counseling day?
THANKS!
I’m so nervous ToT I want to do as well as I can when I’m at Mt. Sac and get all the classes I need!!

yea you are fine :)

you are already one step ahead of every other freshman by coming here.

the snail mail should come soon. mtsac is kinda slow with their mail. but they do get there. for the counselor meeting, just bring something to take a few notes down and write down any questions you want to ask beforehand (cuz we all forget)

but i dont think youll get priority registration for summer at this point. its too late for that. but fall yes. :D

are u trying to add a summer class? cuz if you are make like 10 back up classes. and no im not exaggerating.
