**OFFICIAL Mt SAC CC TRANSFER THREAD**

You’ll get the slackers at any community college you go to. Come to Mt sac and hang out with all the Mexicans :)

@vtlord - regardless of race…you’ll get slackers everywhere. i wouldnt say any sort of race is any more lazy than the other…otherwise you’ll just fall into a self-fulfilling prophecy.

id suggest you visit both campuses and see for your self what its like. i think they are a pretty big difference in terms of the people you will find. PCC is a much nicer campus IMO compared to mtsac.

and generally all CCs are about the same from what i know. some CCs have special contracts with certain UCs etc. i believe berkeley has a contract with its local CC to have those as priority. you’ll be fine wherever you go as long as you do well though

All of the people in my classes tend to be incredibly hard workers, without regard of race. I also tutor and I can tell you that most of the students who want to be there will fight to get good grades.
tl;dr if you’re going into math/physics/chemistry/bio/engineering then you won’t be surrounded by slackers, you’ll be surrounded by competitive people who will be disappointed when they get a 98% on a test.

Well said.

UCLA decisions coming out tomorrow… :D

Accepted to UCLA!
Just one more week until UCB, but I’m ecstatic either way!

Wow! Congrats JL!! I’m sure you worked extremely hard at Mt sac to reach this monuments achievement!

Care to share your stats and major?

Thanks :]
and sure!
Major: Mathematics (pure)

congrats to the both of you jet and blackmamba!!!

UCLA is going to be great

as a side note…
blackmambas first post was on
04-06-2010, today is 4/21/12
thats 2 years to transfer

as a bio major getting into UCLA, thats pretty damn good considering it takes a long time to get classes for hard science majors.

and jet getting into UCLA as a math major…probably just as hard since mtsac is just packed with people trying to get math classes.

congrats dudes!

will you two be going to the mtsac transfer/honors ceremonies? or both?
if you do let me know when they are, ill be sure to make it to congratulate you!

Thanks! I’m haven’t really heard anything about the ceremonies, so I guess it really just depends when they are. I’ll see if I can find out any more info in the coming weeks.

Hello everyone, high school senior here that wants to apply to the summer term. I am in the WVUSD and also in the Connect 4 program for the fall term. The orientation for the Connect 4 program is set tentatively around May 30-June 15, will this be too late for an orientation for the summer term? Also, how many classes can I expect to get during the summer as incoming freshman? Thank you for your time, and I apologize if this question has been asked before.

Good job mamba!! Any advice for someone taking bio next semester who isn’t good at science?

I’ve also taken a lot of science at Mt. SAC (Physics 4A/4B/4C, Bio 4H, Chem 50/51, Astr 5) and I can honestly tell you there is no one that is good or bad at science, there are only people who try hard and people who don’t try hard enough. You may have to read more than the average student, but that doesn’t mean you’re bad, just in need of some practice.

tl;dr work hard, don’t slack

Thank you, jl! it’s very reassuring to hear that.

@ Dainese: Yea it was tough getting those classes but its all worth it now… Staying three years was never an option for me so I just worked my butt off getting classes. Jet had it a lot easier than me with priority reg haha I havent heard anything about cermonies either but if it doesn’t cost too much… I’ll probably go. I’ll keep you posted.

@Cyse00: For bio, its just mainly how much you study and understand the concepts. If you put in time and effort to go over your notes and ask questions when you don’t understand anything, you should be fine. Also get a recorder to record the lectures, it helped me a lot since sometimes the professor goes at a fast pace.

Just make sure you ask the professor if you can record, as it is illegal without their permission*
