****OFFICIAL Northwestern CLASS OF 2019 Discussion Thread****

i’m just worried about my extracurriculars… or lack thereof

Dittos, been thinking about Northwestern ever since…
I didn’t get any email, stop saying it- it gets me so sad :frowning: I think I’m set for everything in my application, but my test scores are definitely a problem :(

what are your guys’ safety schools?

Michigan State and Loyola if I ever finish the app…lol. You?

@scar1234‌ umich and uw-madison!!

Hey can someone copy the text of the email here? I took the Oct ACT (36) and send it to northwestern 2 weeks ago. Hope they recieved it. not sure why i was excluded from the email.

Hi Gabriella!

Just a quick note to congratulate you on your ACT scores.

You did well! While test scores aren’t everything, when accompanied by strong grades in challenging courses they do a pretty good job of predicting performance at selective schools like Northwestern.

Imagine an entire freshmen class filled with equally bright students. That’s an apt description of Northwestern’s Class of 2018, which also set a record for racial and ethnic diversity, with 23% of the class consisting of African-American and Hispanic students, 20% Asian-American students, and 10% international students.

In addition to intelligence, Northwestern students are known for their creativity. A glimpse at a group of recent graduates illustrates this well, including Stephen Colbert (Colbert Report), Andrew Mason (Groupon founder), Will Butler (Arcade Fire co-founder), Rahm Emanuel (Chicago mayor and former White House Chief of Staff), Virginia Rometty (IBM CEO), Julia Louis-Dreyfus (Seinfeld), Seth Meyers (SNL), Michael Wilbon (ESPN), Vernonica Roth (Divergent author), and George R.R. Martin (Game of Thrones).

In any case, congratulations again, Gabriella. Hope you have a terrific senior year.

Warm Regards,

Associate Provost

Thanks. Btw, were you all minority applicants or was this for anyone above a certain ACT score? It doesnt sound TOO significant or foretelling, but then again who knows why they sent it… I am still concerned about not receiving it, i Hope they actually got my scores.

@alafae‌ I thought you got 2350 on the SAT? Thats a great score…

I think it was for people above a certain score.

I wouldn’t worry too much about it especially if you received a 36. Nice job by the way.

@siphwe‌ No I did not, it was a predicted score as stated by my previous post. In the end I only end up with approx 2100, but all my other stuffs are good, so I’m pretty concerned. Wouldn’t want to go anywhere else other than Northwestern!

I do feel like this email is an indication of your acceptance. Look at the kindness of the language and the warm welcome…Anyhow, congrats on your achievement as well as your luck of getting this email ;)

I’m an international student so my safety schools are HKU and UMich (too)!

i’m so nervous now…i thought i had a good shot but i never got that email :frowning: (i got a 35 and sent my scores pretty early)
i did just get one about the sand creek massacre but it was super super generic

If you guys got 35s and 36s and didn’t get the email, I really wouldn’t worry. Those are amazing scores and Northwestern knows that without having to send an email telling you

@escadx‌ dude I got nothing from Northwestern whatsoever…I feel worse now

And the office will be closed until monday… What if they dont get my scores?..

Also, did you guys interview? I wasnt able to because I only knew about it a week before the deadline and by that time The alumni rep and I could not find a time that work.

Yes, I interviewed. But I know it isn’t required so I’m sure you are fine @siphwe

I didn’t interview because they didn’t offer interviews in illinois.

Is there anyone who took SAT and got the email?
Is this only for the ACT takers?
I didn’t receive the email… hopefully it’s just because I did not take ACT…
I took the SAT and got a superscore above 2300…

Congrats for those who received the email…
but I really hope it doesn’t mean that people who didn’t receive the email did not get in to NU…
