Official Notre Dame Transfer Fall 2012

Hey, so I know people did this in the past, but is anyone here applying to transfer to Notre Dame in the fall? I know the app is due tomorrow, and I was wondering if we transfers could get to know each other and what not. The wait is gonna be brutal!

Hey Justwondering!

Thanks for starting this up…yep i just applied yesterday

Who else is out there?..Join in!!!

I applied as well!

I applied about a month ago…Good luck to all of you! I heard we can find out as early as mid May…

^no way! that would be sick

Seriously? Because I have been looking around the forum and it seems like it usually isn’t until early June (but earlier for College of Science kids). So where are you all from?

Northern California, you?

Finally someone started up this thread. I submitted my app. in January. I’m very anxious to hear back from ND and hope I get the big envelope this time.

I’ve lived in Texas the last few years but I grew up in Indiana. How many of you are reapplying (applied for general admission last time)?

Does anybody here not have all the required credits to transfer? I am all but one math course shy of meeting the requirements. I’ve heard this is a minor issue that can be dealt with easily.

I think you might be all right with just being one class short. If you get admitted, you’ll probably just have to take a summer class or promise them you’ll take it your first semester there. Nbd.

my counselor told me the math course is required before matriculation. youll have to take it over summer if youre accepted.

Have you talked to the Notre Dame admissions about it? They seem to be pretty flexible. I didn’t have Calc 2 yet which was required for the economics major but they said it was fine because I had AP stats credit–I could do Calc 2 at Notre Dame. I might be doing organic chemistry over the summer though if I get accepted (to do pre-professional)

yeah I have. they are pretty firm about the two transferable math course requirement (youre covered cuz you have ap stat and calc 1), are you going into the medical field?

Yea I had a lot of AP credit too so that might have helped with other requirements. Do you have to take Calc 1 over the summer? I am thinking about Med School, but am having second doubts now (I really am liking econ so far and business sounds better by the day haha) I applied as a Econ major and Preprofessional

Is Econ under College of Arts and Letters?

Does anyone know if Notre Dame waits until they receive our transcripts from this semester to make a decision for transfer applicants, or are they looking at our applications right now and have a pretty good idea who they will accept or reject?

tebowlin, yes I’m pretty sure Econ is Arts and Letters, which is why I was able to apply as an Econ major. And tomjennings, I’m not sure but I’d guess without the new transcript because it would probably be too late (at least for me I’m not done until mid-May).

Ultimately, admissions can’t make a final decision until they have your final grades (obviously). However, I’d think they at least look at your app and have a good approximation of how likely or not you could be accepted (if that makes sense). I heard how your grades are trending is part of the final decision they make. I don’t think it will be detrimental if you get a worse GPA second semester than you did first semester. For instance, if you get a 3.9 first semester and a 3.4 second semester, that gives you about a 3.6-3.7 cumulative (which is the average for ND transfers). That GPA should be good enough, but I’m sure they’d like to see you maintain the same GPA you had first semester or achieve a higher one.

Well, yea they will probably look at the new grades I’m just saying they will probably only have it for a week or two before they decide because Im pretty sure they decide by early June. But I’ve heard they might tell you early if you need to take a summer class (so you have time to register or whatnot)
