Yup, I envy kids born on December 31st 1999. That’d be so cool. I was born on the LAST DAY OF THE MILLENIUM! (I refuse to accept that a millennium includes the 000 year… It just isn’t right)

I agree with you! 2000 is technically already the new millennia. Or being born on Jan 1st would be equally cool.

True. I was born at the beginning of the millennium! MWAHAHA. All I have is that I was born on the year of… I don’t really know. What important events happened in 1995?

I do remember one thing important that happened on my birthday though. Some political dissident with an obviously asian name (Something like Aan Sung Aat Foy or something like that) was released from house arrest. That’s VERY important.

Nothing. Everything had already happened in 94.

Haha, just kidding. Something must’ve happened.

Do you mean Aung San Suu Kyi crimson?

Hey hazymemories, I applied to Medill. You’re not the only one :)

Michael Jordan came back to NBA in 1995. That’s something!

Yeah, didn’t I say that, chrohn? ;-)

It’s a great school, but I’m not sure journalists are CC types usually. They aren’t the most social creatures, haha. jk

@afriendlyguy Sweet! You dying of anticipation yet?

@Crimsonstained Psht, we’re totally social creatures. Well I am, for sure. Can’t speak for other prospective journalists!

I’m pretty social and I’m a semi-journalist I think you have to be social, since you have to talk to people to get interviews and such.

Anyone know what dorm they want to be in? I know North Campus is more of the science-y engineering types and South is more theatre/humanities? I also heard North Campus is more frat-esque… I personally think I’d be happier in South, just 'cause I’m slightly scared of frats and vomit…
(this might be kind of sad if we don’t get in :S)

I would love to talk about dorms, but at the same time I dont to because of how awful would it be if i dont get in. I really hope it comes out tmrw (which i think is very unlikely, it will probably be friday for sure) so i at least have a chance of not studying for finals/ annoying assignments…

Hinman. Definitely Hinman. Here’s my pros list

It’s on south
Has dining hall
Has convenience store
It’s in suites

Here’s the cons list

Nothing

I’m actually QUITE the introvert, but I’d say I’m pretty good at reading people, and that’s arguably the most important element of journalism. The craft is in writing/speaking, but the art is in listening.

Hazy, I thought I was, but compared to some of the folks in this thread, I’m as chill as Gandhi. Northwestern/Medill is far and away my number one choice - hence, the Early Decision application - and I would absolutely LOVE to go to school there, but I’m not jumping off any bridges if I don’t get in. There are plenty of great schools on my list that I’d be super excited to attend if NU doesn’t work out.

I think journalists have to be pretty social to get the right scoop.

And aha, Hinman! That’s definitely my ideal dorm for all the same reasons. I thought a long time about whether I wanted an open suite or a traditional room but a suite was too good to pass up.

I don’t think thinking about dorms will make me feel any more bummed out if I don’t get in. XD I just do it for fun; I’m not fantasizing and imagining myself there… And I think I’ve had much worse happen to me than get rejected from a uni. and to PASS the frickin timeeee while the ug admissions office is taking its sweeeeet time letting us know whether we’re in or not.

Also I’m not very clear on the difference between the ‘traditional’ and ‘suite’ style dorms.

Hey hey, does anyone else feel like you’ve ‘proposed’ your eternal love to someone and now you’re waiting to hear whether s/he’s accepted? This about sums up how I feel right now. If I do get rejected, I guess I’ll be sad but I’ll try to have the “pfft, too good for you anyway” attitude. ^^

I’m just throwing this question out there, but what are some of your second choice schools? Or schools you would equally love to attend?

Our advisor taught us possibly the most important part of journalism. He always looks at rooms when he walks in, so for instance, at his first meeting with our new principal he saw that he went to the same school as the principal’s daughter, and some other things. Basically that no matter where you go, meet on their turf and learn about them by analyzing their space. I think that’s a great tool to getting to know people.

I’m just taking solace in knowing there are plenty of good colleges. NU may be the best, but still :-D

44sunsets… I can’t equally love attending anywhere. But a perdy close second would be Georgetown? I thought of U Chicago, but I heard they aren’t very nice to your GPA there.
I def want to go somewhere on the eastern half of the U.S. near (but preferably not in) a big city. Also, specialization(?) across many different areas of study is very important to me; I very much want to leave open the possibility of changing majors. For example if I’d gone to MIT and had an early-life crisis and decided I can’t live without history, well. I’m kinda screwed aren’t I?
