They might’ve just done Questbridge kids’ apps first, based on a quota or something without necessarily comparing theirs to ours? I’m not sure how Questbridge works…

i’ve compiled the trends from the past couple years of ED decision dates based on CC threads from previous years and NU’s academic calendars.

http://btnbt.com/2144

So it could really be any day this week, but I would bet on Tuesday or Friday.

kdy0218, haha good observation. I thought EDNUFTW was just getting them off the top of his/her head.

44sunsets, I think they’re done already. I have a feeling they didn’t just compare Questbridge kids with other Questbridge kids only…
For all we know they could be all done, and just going over last-minute stuff… We still have 30 mins till it’s 5pm o’er there.

rcc117, lol completed the work I was too lazy to finish. Thanks! Now I can obsess over this with more (and more accurate) data!

Lol… How were your guys’ day at school! Haha, we’re obviously all coming back, or have come back. I guess Illinois kids would have been back some time ago…

From rcc117’s chart

Adm Results Day (xth of December)

Mean= 11.286
Median= 11th

Adm Results Day (x number of days away from start of break)
Mean (sum of absolute values*)= 12/7=1.714 days
Median=1 day BEFORE break

*sum of absolute values because in 2007 results came AFTER break started

Doesn’t this year’s ED pool have the greatest number of applicants ever?

i guess its not tonight

Yeah. But the number of applicants (for both ED and RD) have increased for eight consecutive years so don’t be too surprised.

hahaha chrohn i love your analysis
but I am almost 90% sure that it would be friday… past two year’s been like that.

rcc177 nice pic.

Noooooo, it can’t be that laate!!
Okay, that kind sounds likely to me too… but what if they’re done? I mean, I think they’re done by now this year. Could they be just sittin’ around in the office eating jelly donuts and going “Eyy… we’re all done, but we gotta wait 'till the 14th to give out the results… ya know, so we’re consistent?”

Interesting analysis chrohn. If I were to amend that, I’d do some spread analysis to see some information on probabilities but eh. It’d be nice for it to come out the 11th.
Not going to torture myself the same way I did four days ago though… I think, I’ll just expect it to come out the 15th and leave it at that.

I agree completely. ^
Last Friday was so stressful that I’m content with not chancing them anytime this week. I’m going to let myself only believe that they’re coming Friday so I don’t have to spend the rest of the week obsessing about how it could show up in my email at any time.

In response to the question about movies, I recently saw “Rise of the Guardians” with my little cousins. Surprisingly really good! I agree with the review that said it was like the animated avengers. Really entertaining!

I need to buy the tickets today, but I plan on going to the midnight premiere of the Hobbit! It’s going to be amazing.

And Les Miserables looks great, just not my top priority right now, same with Wreck-It Ralph. That just looks TOO entertaining haha

I think we should just all chill. The analysis is nice and all, but it’s still going to be whenever they feel like releasing them.

On another note, anyone else here a National Merit Semifinalist?

@Crimsonstained7 I am!

Lolol I didn’t feel too stressed out last Friday. In fact I was kinda excited… in the good way. But I get what you all mean. And har mean and median ain’t nothin’ fancy… probably isn’t that helpful anyway what with our sample size of… iunno 3. Gahh homework! Ironically, cc isn’t very good for me grade-wise…

44Sunsets, I didn’t realize this, but it’s pretty much guaranteed that people become finalists. 15,000 out of 16,000 semifinalists become finalists!

Im not a merit semifinalist, which might hurt. I had a really bad concussion during the PSAT last year, so i bombed the test (zero concentration abilities + killer headaches = embarrassing performance)

Eh, that won’t matter. It’s a little extra thing, it’s mostly good for money. That reminds me, when I was in elementary school (or early middle school) we did the PASS testing (The SC testing for little kids, haha) and I was sick once. I did the first test, laid my head down, went to the nurse, then didn’t show up for the rest of the tests, or the makeups, I was so sick. I managed to get almost the highest score in our school of 50 or so while being sick in that section. I, of course, got 0 on the rest though ;)

Lol everyone’s offline. How’s the hw going?

Anybody looking at this thread from Asia?
