Has anyone gotten the email but not able to click the link because its not actually a link?

@NBCbynature, I guess this means we’ll probably be classmates next year, I can’t wait!

Hi and congrats to all! Seriously SO excited to meet you all next fall I don’t really want to post all of my stats, but basically I had…
2310 SAT, 3.8 GPA, 5’s in 5 APs, national merit, extracurrics, etc.
If I have any free time, I’ll edit with the full stats. Oh and I was accepted to SESP!

@CollegeHelp111, I will read your essays!

So stoked - I got accepted into McCormick for biomedical engineering!!!

Decision: Accepted to Medill School of Journalism

Objective:
[ul]
[] SAT I (breakdown): None
[] ACT: 32. Math: 34, English: 34, Reading: 33, Science: 27.
[] SAT II: Math II: 680 (Ha. Don’t know why I sent that…)
[] Unweighted GPA (out of 4.0): 4.0
[] Rank (percentile if rank is unavailable): 1 of 273
[] AP (place score in parenthesis): None
[] IB (place score in parenthesis): Mathematics (Calculus) SL: 6, Psychology SL: 5
[] Senior Year Course Load: IB English, IB History of the 20th Century, IB TOK, IB Chem II, IB Discrete, IB Japanese IV, Leadership, IB Diploma Candidate
[] Major Awards (USAMO, Intel etc.):[/ul]Subjective: None worth mentioning.
[ul]
[li] Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis): Key Club (President for 2 years, Treasurer for 1), 4 Varsity Letters in Track & Field (Captain), 2 Varsity Letters Soccer (Captain of JV Soph year), Club Soccer, Internship for PUD Commissioner, ASB (Student Body Vice President)[/li][] Job/Work Experience: Academic tutor (hired by school): Certified in Japanese, Calculus, & Chemistry
[] Volunteer/Community service: 250+ hours at a nursing home, 200+ hours at a non-profit as a secretary, taught English to 2nd graders in Tanzania for two weeks.
[] Summer Activities: Lots of volunteering, training for sports, nothing worth mentioning.
[] Essays: Wrote about my trip in Tanzania (executed in a non-cliche way). My NU Essay was original; I bridged my passion for mathematics to my love of journalism.
[] Teacher Recommendation: Awesome! Two from English teachers (one of which I had Freshman & Senior year), one from my Calculus teacher from last year.
[] Counselor Rec: Great. My counselor likes me (I think). I think she also thought that I wouldn’t get into NU, so she wrote me an outstanding letter.
[] Additional Rec: Got one from the Executive Director of the non-profit that I volunteer at.
[] Interview:[/ul]Other
[ul] Eh. So-so… I think he thought I was a bit of a goof.
[] State (if domestic applicant): Washington
[] School Type: Public
[] Ethnicity: Asian (Taiwanese)
[] Gender: Female
[]Income Bracket: $200,000>
[] Hooks (URM, first generation college, etc.):[/ul]Reflection
[list] None… I am possibly the most unlucky demographic to apply to Medill: an asian female whose parents make bank… Hopefully this serves as encouragement for any future applicants in my scenario!
[] Strengths: GPA & courseload, Recs, my NU Essay
[] Weaknesses:Test scores, ECs… Didn’t have any journalism-related ones. This might’ve been an advantage though as they probably thought it was refreshing.
[] Why you think you were accepted/waitlisted/rejected: Many Medill applicants/students have been in Newspaper or Yearbook and held senior editing positions, so I suppose they liked me because I was different! Glad it worked out this way; I knew that it would either be really appealing or really unappealing that I show no evidential passion for journalism…

Where else were you accepted/waitlisted/rejected:** Applied to USC Annenberg, UC Berkeley, UW. Withdrew them, of course.
General Comments:** SOOOOO glad to be accepted! Medill & NU are the PERFECT match for me. Could not be any happier.
