There seems to be a lot of Stern applicants!

I’m wonderingwhy you didn’t apply to CAS? It would have worked out easier for you in terms of MAP requirements, as CAS has its own top-10 ranked Economics program.

NYU website says that all Film transfers have to start classes in the summer, does anybody know the approximate date of this? Because if decisions are given out during May, then I’m afraid that the accepted students won’t have enough time to prepare themselves to move to NYC…

hey guys, my name is joe, im applying for junior transfer to stern. ive been reading recent posts on this thread of people getting accepted to various depts (some stern acceptances). i sent in my app a day before the deadline, does this mean that this puts at a disadvantage me as well as other applicants who submitted around the deadline? It seems to be on a first come first serve basis kind of deal, had I known that I would have applied considerably earlier.

@josephyang, I’m in a similar situation. My personal theory is that they can tell who is going to get in and who is not even before they see all applications. Then they review the borderline ones and the ones sent in last minute.

@giantmidget… I figured going to a cas program would be to much of a lateral movement from conn. The transfer to stern moves me in the direction that I want to go which is why I’m trying there… Granted I know its a long shot and probably won’t get in.

I do not think it works that way, because I submitted my common application on feburuary 28th, and sent out my materials 3 weeks ago, but still haven’t heard a word from them… ( from the slide I noticed someone submitted in march and got the decision, if I didn’t remember wrong)Maybe it is very random? I don’t know…I am also very confused… Need help…

did everyone who got accepted get an email first? Is that how you are admitted? I still show no transfer credit, nor financial aid documents, and no way to check a decision. It sucks to pay money for transcripts, app fees, and css junk and still be in the dark as to when you will hear a decision. Bummed…

I think the only reason they were accepted was that they appeared to be very desirable students for NYU, and they wanted to get them before other universities accepted them as well.

No one is going to be disadvantaged by submitting before the deadline - it’s not rolling admissions.

I’m really excited to hear back from NYU (hopefully sooner than later). I know they said they’ll release admission decisions throughout May, but when in May do they usually release decisions? Early May? Mid May? Later on in May?

@maheshs: That’s a relief… I don’t know why I’m worried about that since my chances of getting in are very low. I haven’t even gotten any confirmation email from them or anything yet, and I submitted my app on 3/29. All I got is an email saying that I need to turn in a citizenship verification for financial aid through an NYU email account I got from signing up for the “Summer In NYC” session.

Hi guys. I also applied to Stern for transfer admission. I am from a top 50 university and have competitive GPA. I also did many activities in college and high school. But I don’t have much confidence on my recommendation. I have submitted two recommendations so far, one is from my economics professor (I did well in this course, while she does not know me very personally), the other is my writing instructor (I chose her because she knows me very well, but writing seems not related to business anyway). I am taking two intermediate business courses this semester, should I ask another accounting/mkting professor to write me a recommendation? Will the admissions committee still read this additional piece of recommendation? Also, does the title “professor/assistant professor/ instructor” matter?
Thanks very much!

Why do you have to turn in a citizenship verification? I mean, residents can also get financial aid, not necessarily citizens…or are you an international student?

@meilleur: I’m not an international student. I’m actually a US citizen, but for some reason the Social Security Administration could not confirm that I’m a US citizen (that’s what it says on my NYU Albert To-Do List) so I have to turn in a proof. I hope I’ll hear something from them after I turn that in, because I’m getting kinda anxious haha!
