Official NYU 2012 Transfer Thread

@love4finance I say you have a very high chance of getting in! You got excellent grades in your business classes as well as amazing business experiences, so I say be confident! you’ll get in

Hey guys, I applied to NYU as a transfer applicant for the fall of 2012 from the University of Texas in Arlington. I have a 4.0 GPA, a member of the Honors College, received my International Baccalaureate diploma in high and was in numerous extra curriculars like Big Brothers Big Sisters and like 3 honor societies.

I’ve completed 30 hours in regular undergraduate courses and upper level Spanish courses.

I have like 30 hours of volunteer work and I’m African American and 1st generation. And “economically disadvantaged”

I submitted my common app like on 2/22/12 and my transcripts like sometime in March. They just got checked off recently. I didn’t submit test scores, though I took IB/AP tests and those were on my transcript.

Do y’all think I’ll get accepted? I mean I haven’t heard back like y’all have…

Oh and I applied as a poll sci major.

Has anyone else who applied on the deadline have their applications shown as complete on Albert?

Same here, only application fee is checked. Transcripts and standardized test scores are not shown in the checkbox. I submitted my common app on Mar 31. While my transcript was mailed on Mar 22 using next day shipping. When should we expect to get application ready for review?

Yeah, both my high school transcript and college transcript are not checked either. I sent them in around March. So yesterday, I called the admissions office and the person told me that they are not doing status checks yet and if something is missing they will email you.

My High School transcripts haven’t been checked either, but everything else has. I know for sure that they have my HS transcripts because I called and an admissions agent confirmed it. Apparently there are two different places for them to check, initially she said she did not have it, but she checked the other place, and surely enough it was there. She said it takes forever for the system to update. She also said that HS transcripts are not more of a formality than a necessity because they are required by NY state law. She told me that the only actual requirements for the application to go in for review is the application itself, and college transcripts.

Did you ask to be transferred to an admissions agent? When I called and asked to be transferred, they wouldn’t and said I should wait till next week as the transcripts should be up by then if they have them.

@jennieme

What do you mean by “they’re not doing status checks yet”? Did they tell you where the admissions process is at this stage?

I am freaked out!! I received the application acknowledgement last thursday. The e-mail told me to active my NetID. Then I found that the account was not mine!!! The name of the account is Lindsay not Lyn!! Some information in the account is wrong either. It seemed they mixed our application together. I called them, but it seemed they did not work on that. Instead, they said it looked I applied for a Lindsay…

all of my stuff is checked as received. it took a while though, I sent them in like early March and it just got checked not that long ago. On the site it says that while your information may be received, it takes time to process.

@giantmidget

I didn’t ask to be transferred at all, I just explained why I was calling and asked if they could tell me if my HS transcripts had been received. She told me that she had to transfer me, and she did. The person she transferred me to checked for me and told me everything that I put in my last post. It’s strange though because I submitted my app Feb. 28, and my HS transcript more than a week before that. When I initially called, inquiring about why I hadn’t received an email confirmation (Mar. 5), I heard her say that my HS transcript was in then. Strangely after 6 weeks, it is still not checked off.

I am so confused. I sent my app in on 3/29 and it says on my common app that my app is downloaded (while supplement still remains completed) but i still haven’t received any notification from them yet? I haven’t gotten any NetID like you all did, except for an already existed NetID from signing up for the summer session. i tried checking for my transfer application status using that NetID but there’s nothing there except for the class that I signed up for the summer. When did you guys receive your NetID? Because this doesn’t seem normal at all.

did anyone get an email from the director of admissions stating all they needed was the mid-term grade report and then they would be letting me know shortly about the decision made?

is this something normal this early? is this usually said to all?

im kind of uncertain about what it means.

@thinkingthink

Did you send in the mid term report with your common app?

I didn’t get that email O.o

he asked “to scan/fax it to his attention” as soon as possible

im faxing it to him tomorrow afternoon

I applied on the deadline, and I have the albert login and whatnot. They still say I have 3 items missing, but I’m thinking they’ll find them soon, as the other colleges I sent the same materials to have received them (and I sent all at once).

but did you originally send it in? like before?

I never got any e-mail like that either :confused: The only e-mail I ever got was from an admissions officer asking me to send in the college report because they had not received it when my school originally mailed it. She did ask me to fax/scan it to her attn though. This was about two weeks ago, and I haven’t heard anything since.

I was accepted into gallatin last thursday (the 5th). it seems like that was the first round of acceptances according to this thread.

@st1493
Can you please tell us your stats?

No, I had not sent in my mid-term grade report prior to the e-mail. I had plans in sending it in tomorrow when I got the sign-offs for all my professors.

I will fax it tomorrow to him regardless.

Any idea what this means?

He was the director of Undergraduate admissions at CAS
