Official NYU 2012 Transfer Thread

Hey everyone!

I got accepted into NYU Gallatin this morning!!! I applied around late January and still have not seen my transfer credit yet on Albert so don’t use that as a sole indication for the heads up. Also, good luck to everyone!!!

Correction: Transfer credit just showed up

@crew2011

Congratulations,
What were your stats?

Thanks!

Here are some of my quick stats:

H.S. GPA: 3.7
SAT: 1910 (ooof)
Other: took 6 APs in high school and was very involved with leadership positions
College GPA: 3.9 (from a top 30 LAC)

Sorry it’s not really in any order haha, but I tried very hard through out high school/college and thankfully it all paid off. I wish you guys a lot of luck with your decisions and hope you hear back soon!

Oh yes I am also an incoming Sophomore.

@everyone
Sorry if this might seem like a dumb question, but is there a possibility that NYU would offer you acceptance to Gallatin if you don’t get into the school you chose on your app?

Why would they do that?.. The program some people get put into if they’re not accepted into the school they applied to (usually CAS) is the Liberal Studies Program which is for 2 years and then you get to transfer to one of the schools.

Gallatin is for a certain type of student and definitely wouldn’t work for a lot of people so I can’t imagine they’d put anyone there that didn’t specifically seek it out.

Oh, I see. Okay. Thank you.

It is such a long wait… I am still wondering why some get admitted while everybody else is waiting… I am just guessing, is it possible that they look at applications according to their last names( I mean by region as well as the student’s last name)? My last name starts with Y…BecauseI submitted my common application early(by the end of february), but haven’t heard anything from NYU since then… I hope I am wrong, cause my capital letter is Y. But in the computer they have to arrange names by capital letters right? And they scanned the documents and put them in computer according to your name right!!! Oh my goodness…

@meilleur
I’m not sure. Or it could just be random? Try not to over-think it too much. I was expecting to hear more acceptances on here today. I hope they let us know by the end of this month, at least, acceptance or not.

Do they send e-mails with the decision as well?

@Loolala
Thank you Loolala I hope they could give us decisions soon! The long wait is killing me… Especially they did not send me any email since the day I submitted my application…Even when my high school transcript was missing they didn’t email me neither… Oh I hope they could take a look at my application ASAP!!!

@Kvasek
yes they also email you the decision

I’m so discouraged after reading other people’s stats. I am a premed student with a GPA of 3.349, which is pretty low. Has anyone’s supplement indicate that it is downloaded yet? Mine still hasn’t and both of my transcript are not checked on Albert as well. Yeah I doubt I’m going to get in, considering people have heard from NYU already.

Yay I finally got the final high school transcript checked off on Albert, now all that’s left is my college transcript.

@jennieme I feel the same way! My GPA is only a 3.5. Im a bioengineering major and its just super rigorous. I’m hoping I get into CAS though.

For all the people that got decisions already. Are you guys internal or external transfers?

@npat89
I’m pretty sure most people that got accepted on here were external transfers, if I’m not mistaken.

I’m sitting at a 3.81 college GPA but I am really nervous! I switched majors from Mech eng. to econ, and when I did that I withdrew from a mech eng class. I hope that doesn’t reflect poorly on me!

@WorriedAlways

that make sense! And good news I just got the reply they said they have received my portfolio.

wow that’s pretty crazy, I kind of wish I applied earlier now…

@GregFields Im actually switching from BioE to Econ haha. I’ve heard that having one withdraw is not so bad, its when u have a couple that it raises some eyebrows. What school are you from?

Anyone else applied Tisch? I’m so nervous …I see many of you are nervous also lol. Cheer up !

Hey guys, I just got an email saying that NYU wants my midterm grades. But I’m so afraid! It’s cause I did pretty bad in physics, and had to withdrew this term, but it stil shows im taking the class on the transcript I sent. I’m a premed student with a 3.4-3.5 gpa. Do you guys think I still have a chance. I took soooo many classes this term i was super stressed, but still managed an A in bio, B in bio lab, a- in stats and A in italian language so far.

I think this midterm report will be my cutoff whether I will get in or not. But I can’t help but have this bad feeling I won’t get in. :(
