Official NYU 2012 Transfer Thread

People have started hearing back from Gallatin? Who?? That makes no sense.

@thribhu75 I heard back from Gallatin last Thursday

this thread is making me ten times more anxious, why can’t we all hear back already??? has ANYONE heard back today yet? or yesterday?

@AnxietyBound

Yes, people have heard back from Gallatin, people have heard back from CAS.

Some people have been emailed to send in a Mid-Term report.

I haven’t gotten an email…nor an acceptance O.o

@WorriedAlways

I feel like being asked for a midterm report can’t be a good sign? And you haven’t gotten an email with you NetID even???

@AnxiettyBound

Yes I have gotten an email with my email. I can log in to NYU Home and to Albert track the status of my application. They’ve received all of my materials.

@Loolala said she looked at last year’s thread and she said it seemed to her that they asked people with lower GPA for their’s, but that’s just a guess from her, not confirmed she says.

A guy on here said that last year that asked him for his Mid-Term and he got rejected…so…idk.

But yeah I have my credentials to log in and all. They sent an email a couple of days after I submitted my common app.

Any Stern applicants got decisions yet?

@richard0910

I think Stern and Tisch will be slower than other schools according to the 2011 thread

okay i just called the admissions office today and the admissions agent told me that we will hear back from NYU on May 1st or around that time.

Hi, could I know which school did u apply to? When did u submit the application? Good luck anyway!

@jennieme

Well some people have heard back already. I applied to another school here in Texas with the same dates as NYU for notification but they got back to me by the end of March. So…yeah…so people are getting accepted.

And I don’t think any Stern people have heard back. That’s one of the crazy ones to get into I’ve heard. Just CAS and Gallatin is what I’ve really seen.

Hi all! Anybody heard back from Steinhardt yet? I submitted my application on the 12th of March and so far only the application fee checkbox on my Albert portal is being marked. Is this happening to everybody as well?

I applied to MCC as an international student with my current college GPA standing at 3.77. What are my chances like? Thank you!

I just called admissions and they said transfer decisions would be sent out STARTING May 1, when I told him some people on this thread had already heard back, he seemed confused as to how that’d be possible.

So, anyway, don’t worry if you haven’t heard back yet. If it’s 2 months from now, then I might start to panic.

Hey everybody!

I just got a request for my midterm report and it seems this thread was having some confusion about who is supposed to get it. I feel like I am academically right on the cusp of having the proper GPA to transfer, but I am kind of worried to send in my mid term report.

Here’s my story: High school I had a GPA of 3.9, first quarter of college (I’m a freshman right now) I had a 3.4 GPA, which is pretty low for NYU. But second quarter I managed a 3.9 while taking a harder class load than first quarter.

This quarter, I have not yet taken any of my midterms (or any major assignments for that matter). My grades only reflect small quizzes and homework assignments, and I’ve always gotten low marks on those. I’m a great test taker (which manage to boost my grade usually, crazy!) but terrible at doing menial assignments, so all of my grades are much worse than they should be and do not properly reflect my mastery of the material. At best, my GPA is a 3.5 right now.

I am not sure whether to be worried about how my mid-term report will reflect on me, or to be glad that NYU is showing interest in my application!

Well were all those people lying then?? They clearly said they were accepted. I’ve talked to some people on Tumblr and she said she could tell she was accepted by late April because they were working hard on her transfer credits, but she got her official acceptance in mid May. So…I don’t know what all those people were saying then.

@Matark we said about the Mid-Term report that that was just a guess, because I was freaking out because I thought that if they asked for a mid term report that was indication of acceptance, or interest rather, but then some guy said that they asked for his last year and he denied, mostly because he hadn’t taken calculus yet.

Anyway, my GPA is a 4.0 at a state university and NYU hasn’t asked for my mid term report. I don’t know if I should be worried about that O.o

@Matark

Can I know what school did u apply ? and when did u submit your application? I am getting more confused of WHO will be asked for a mid-term report…

CAS Economics, I sent my application in the last week of March.

So yeah, I applied to Tisch (film and television) on March 30th. Err, I think the protocol is to list some stats, right? I’ve 30 credits, coming in from Emerson College (although I had to withdraw because of financial reasons), 4.0 GPA (from community college), PTK member, and strong essays with, what I think, is a great portfolio. I’ve also lots extracurricular activities; I founded clubs, organized cultural events, cheerleaded, and taught martial arts for free.

The biggest thing that worries me is that I’ve withdrawn from colleges twice; once from Emerson (although I’ve a great recommendation from a professor that I had there), and the other from Baruch College in the past. Originally, I was wanting to get a degree in marketing, but that kind of school really put me off of learning in general and I decided that I should do what I thought would be one of the only things that would make me happy in life.

I’m hoping that my portfolio and essays will show that I’m serious about what I want to do and they’ll overlook my withdrawals.

Also, I’ve been checking Albert every day and, though I’ve submitted everything, I’ve nothing checked :confused: I was denied last year because they never got my portfolio that I sent in the mail, so I’m glad they’ve gone online.

NYU is terrible with aid, so if you withdrew for financial reasons, I’d make sure you have some plan to pay of the exorbitant tuition.

Guys I dont think you need to worry about the mid-term report… Because I can remember clearly that in January I called in twice to ask whether or not we had to send in mid-term, they said yes… So I guess mid-term is kind of requirment, if they don’t get yours, and at the same time if they are somewhat interested(meaning not sure to deny), then they will ask for mid-term!But if they can tell they want to deny, then probably they won’t ask for it… Thats my opinion, good luck guys!!!
