Official NYU 2012 Transfer Thread

Oh no! What happens to all those deadlines for enrollment for other schools?

Oh please oh please let NYU Steinhardt let us know sooner than June 1st

Yeah last year’s thread had a lot of people worried about their other schools, and some called in to NYU about that but I don’t think that sped up their process because those same people were still posting into late May/June 1st…

NYU says I need to inform them of my decision by May 10th. That was exactly 3 weeks from the day I was given my acceptance. My guess is they give you 3 weeks to make your decision. I might have to start calling the other schools I applied to to ask them if they can possibly speed up their decisions :</p>

So guys I just received an infraction from College Confidential. Just putting this in here to alleviate some of the stress. Good luck to everyone still!

are there any other gallatin applicants?!? i feel alone over here :frowning: anyone else have transfer credit show up?

any decisions today ?

I applied to CAS with a 3.85 gpa. HS was not all that good about 2.7-2.9 gpa. Needless to say my app on common app was submitted a bit past the deadline -_- smh. I hope thats not tooo much of a disadvantage because I know some people say it doesn’t really make a difference. I really wanna go to NYU - its my dream school. I e-mailed them yesterday about some updated info such as me being in the honors program, ptk, and being president of 2 clubs, along with an updated resume. I know its pretty late considering some people already got in. I hope they still look at this stuff though.

I just found out about an hour ago I was rejected from Fordham…I have no idea why. I thought my stats were pretty good, considering I managed to get 30 credits in less than a year and have a 3.85 gpa.

Im really worried I wont get into NYU now because I always thought getting into Fordham would be easier than NYU. Someone please help :(

^ Calm down. If you don’t get in this year, try again next year. Your GPA is good, I’m surprised Fordham rejected you. What are your ACT/SAT scores? They are important components when it comes to deciding which applicants to admit. And did you take challenging classes in high school?

Judging by your username, you want to attend Georetown as well?

I didn’t send in my SATs because I have 30 credits so they weren’t considered. I had a couple of APs in HS. I moved around a lot and went to 4 different high schools, so high school was a big mess for me. I just wanted it to end. I stopped caring by my junior year.

I wanted to go to GTown but then I really just wanted to stay in New York, so I mean this username is from before, but now NYU is where I really want to go. I was rejected last year also, but I understand that, my grades weren’t anywhere. I’m surprised Fordham rejected me too. I thought colleges liked to see upward progress, I took 3 summer classes, 6 in the fall and 2 in the winter. I thought for sure they’d see how dedicated I was.

What campus did you apply too? I currently attend Fordham (Lincoln Center) and am trying to transfer to NYU. Some campuses are harder to get into than others. I had the same problem, My highschool grades were bad due to a personal tragedy. I talked to an admission officer and explained my problem and he assured me that they look for the “whole package.” (They WILL look at EXC, Supplements, Recs and such)

@hopefulhoya93 if you dont mind me asking, did you find out from fordham online or in the mail?

I applied to Lincoln Center. I mean maybe because I left the honors part blank, and updated the wrong resume. So I mean my essay and ec’s say something else but then my honors part and resume referring to my ec’s says something different? I e-mailed them but never got a reply.

I e-mailed NYU undergraduate admissions the corrections for that last night also because I just found out about being part of the honors program at my school Saturday. I didn’t wanna send a bunch of e-mails so I thought maybe I should wait. Im gonna e-mail NYU again tomorrow because when I called today, I was told counselors weren’t in and they were coming back tomorrow. Hopefully they see it and will incorporate it to my app so it can make more sense? My recs are pretty good too.

I found out through e-mail. I’m a very paranoid and nervous person in general but now I’m even more paranoid because I feel like theres a reallly good chance I wont get into NYU because I didnt get into Fordham.

Lincoln Center is absolutely minuscule.VERY small. Which might mean it is very competitive. Don’t worry. All things will fall into place. I am in the same boat with my grades… What school did you apply too?

For NYU - I did CAS…again. Lol I hope thats the reason I got rejected from Fordham! Lol I would have no prob starting the semester being on probation if anything. where did you apply?

Im currently at my CC right now. If I dont get in where I wanna go I’ll probably just take the semester off and either go intern in London or Pakistan so hopefully more experience can be added to resume. go back to my cc for the spring and try again for fall 2013? im not sure if i should apply for spring 2013 or fall 2013

Just got an e-mail back from NYU saying they added all my updates to my file. SUCCESS!

Good! Did anyone hear back yet? I applied to MCC at Steinhardt and am very very anxious!

I am applying to Fordham too but looking through common app, I realize that a supplement essay is not applicable, this that right? Or am I missing out on something?

A good handful of people here heard back from NYU already, CAS and Gallatin. Which is the reason for the rest of us to be even more anxious. I hope my application is still under review and they didn’t just say to me just for the hell of it. smh

yeoirishs - Fordham doesn’t have a supplement essay.

I am really worried about my grades. like I said, high school was tough because of personal tragedies but I got accepted to Fordham and have been pulling a B+ average (still dealing with a few events…) I am hoping my EC’s/Supplements and Rec help pull me through…
Rec: Alumni, Very good rec
For my EC’s:
I am an intern at CNN, I did another internship at a massive public Relations firm in NYC, another internship at a magazine and im a contributing writer for the the observer.
** Applying to MCC at Steinhardt
Any thoughts??

Wow, you have some pretty good EC’s! Are you a freshman or a soph?
