Official NYU 2012 Transfer Thread

Do you guys think being waitlisted last year will help my chances?

i think so ! what were your stats? @SuperPowers

Is it hard to get accepted to nyu with wanting to pursue a degree in special education elementary ?

Freshman looking to transfer as a sophmore!

If you diddnt get into Fordham I really would not worry about it. Their freshman class is one of the biggest they have ever had and they did not even have the room to dorm them all. Dont worry!

I applied to Tisch Film & TV on March 28. I got my email receipt with Albert login on April 2. However, it’s been over three weeks and my high school and college transcripts along with my portfolio are not showing up on my checklist (even though I know I submitted all of them).

Should I call the office?

Also, has anyone heard back from Tisch yet?

gah my albert account says that everything has been received, but i just got an email from them saying they don’t have my final hs transcript. >< i don’t know if it’s a great idea to get my hs to send a transcript again because it’s late in the game and it takes 10+days for them to process a transcript request and send it >< now i’m freaking out :frowning: what should i do?

anyone here back from Stern yet?

I’m still waiting on CAS to respond. My items are still not even checked off on Albert :/

Hopefully I’ll get a response soon!

@Hopeful2121 omg have you met Anderson Cooper?!

@Yuxuan

It’s okay, on last year’s thread like some people were accepted and their Albert’s still weren’t checked off.

@Hopeful2121 again

Dude last year MCC took the LONGEST. People heard back in June. Check last year’s thread…you may be waiting a while >.<

Okay, so for those of us still worried about the Albert checklist, here is what someone in admissions just told me:

No news is good news. The Office WILL email you if you are missing anything. The Albert checklist is NOT reflective of what the office has on file for you.

I see that a lot of people on this thread have been saying the same thing. So hopefully we can put this to bed for good.

Wow so many people with an incomplete checklist. I’m starting to wonder if a complete one is a good sign 0.o

@cbbtrans
Nothing too special. Roughly 3.6 - 3.7 college gpa, a few ec’s, one recommendation.

I’m transferring with a 3.94 college GPA (3.96 in HS), plenty of 300-level and 200-level classes in college (36 credits total) a couple EC’s (the biggest one of which is full time employment for 8 months + great recommendation from my boss), and 3 recommendations from professors.

I really hope that I get enough financial aid if I get in, though - I can’t really afford it at all, otherwise.

I already got into American University with honors, but they haven’t said anything about financial aid yet. :/

@Yuxuan everyone says NYU is terrible with financial aid…

@worriedalways
hahaha i have seen the silver fox from a far!

Realllly?? June?! DAMN! Well I guess that means they open more spots based on how many deny their acceptance? Better chance for me?!?!!? (hope so!)

Hey guys, so for those of us applying for MCC at Steinhardt, I called today to clarify whether or not admissions would be released that late towards June, like last year. They said they were trying to avoid that this year and everything SHOULD be sent out by third week of May. They said that it was based on a rolling basis. So everyone should just sit tight until the next two weeks.

And for those who are worried about whether or not they have everything on Albert…I highly recommend you e-mail an admissions counselor from your state or call and ask to be connected to an admissions counselor where they can verify whether or not they have everything. I did that, and they had everything checked off for me and made sure all my material were there.

how big of a factor is not needing any financial aid? Also parent being an alumni and donates?

Hey @hsclassof2011, what is the name of the admissions counselor that you spoke to today? The only thing left on my checklist unchecked is my HS transcript.

@blockandbl I would assume that it does play a small factor in your admissions decision, however gpa, ec’s, rec’s, etc. those will obviously play a more important factor.

@yeoirishs I’m not sure, but I just asked to be connected to one from a student ambassador. Also I’m sure I got a different one then I spoke to today to check off my materials. And I’ve been e-mailing one from my state throughout the process of applying.

@WorriedAlways & Yuxuan1 I was accepted a while ago but didn’t get my financial aid offer until recently, and yes, what everyone else says about their fin aid is right—it’s pretty dismal what they give you. That’s one of the reasons why I won’t be accepting my admissions offer.
