I suggest everyone having this issue to either email or call admissions. A few weeks ago I had the same problem. They should get back to you promptly. I’m sure all of your files are complete if you arranged to send it in.

Hey everyone. This is my first post, but thought it was a good time to chime in. I too got the email today about my application being incomplete. It stated they were missing a transcript, but everything has been checked off on Albert. I called admissions and the girl I spoke with was very nice. She checked my file and confirmed that my application was in fact complete and I should ignore that email.

I asked about when decisions might be released and she told me there are no set days or times, and the decisions are released as soon as they are made. She said everyone should know by the end of May.

Hopefully I am transferring to Steinhardt to study Music Business. Anyone else doing this, and have you heard yet?

Good luck to all!

They told me in the email that they have miscoded my documents, and I think they also did this to other applicants too, so maybe this is the reason why they keep on asking people for transcripts.
They seriouisly need to hire someone to take care applicants materials LOL

ok so I got an email today saying I’m missing stuff, called and NYU said I’m missing my college transcript. Went to my school and they will be remailing it on monday morning.

anyone want to chime in on the HS transcript question? If that’s true it probably would have been better for me had I not sent it in, my HS was a major thumbs down. I’m doing quite well now but hopefully they see the change…

for those of u who got an email from NYU, which says you miss some stuffs, you most likely got accepted already. Otherwise, they won’t even bother ask u to send transcripts

@ericislife, is that a common thing? As in, do you have evidence to back that up? Or is it just something you’re saying? :D

@ericislife

how do you know that? if the email said they were missing our transcripts doesn’t that mean that the application was considered incomplete?

yeah, otherwise without your transcripts they can’t see how you are doing academically

@pg. 53
This doesn’t make any sense. If they are missing your college and/or hs transcript how can you already be accepted? I understand wanting your midterm and having been already accepted but the other logic doesn’t make sense…

I think that was said because it’s about time that everyone finds out his or her acceptance. It’s getting late I think and why would they try so hard to get people’s records if they are going to deny them? I don’t know o.o

I’m guessing I don’t knowww

@ p53 that makes sense , cuz my friend ( transfer from california cc but international student )got the missing Toefl Score email and she didn’t have to turn in cuz its not necessary. But she got accepted to NYU. And I got same email end of April when some of applicants got rejected email.

The HS transcript is not required in the admissions process. It only required if you get accepted. However, the application review process at NYU is clearly very slow. All of the emails you got were automatic emails sent to people who do not have certain requirements checked off on Albert. The checked off requirements however are most likely out of date because like I said, NYU is slow. I had things unchecked for a while and I called and I was told my file is complete and Albert is just not updated frequently. If you had you transcripts arranged to be sent and you got the email, it’s just because of the slow process. Your file is most likely complete if you sent everything. It has nothing to do with your admissions decision.

It simply means just that: you seem to be missing some information and in order for them to make an informed decision, they obviously need your missing items to evaluate you. For those who did not receive such email, we must be fine because they said they will email you if you are missing anything. So we have two types of candidates: those who received emails because they were told they would by admissions if they are missing anything, and those who didn’t receive emails because they aren’t missing anything. So this has nothing to do with an admission/rejection.

If they ask you for additional materials it does not mean you have been accepted. That’s completely illogical. They wouldn’t be able to make an admissions decision without your college transcripts, or even your high school transcripts.

@jcs9106 Your high school transcript IS taken into account. How heavily is taken into account is based on how many college credits you have. For example, if you are a freshman in college, clearly you do not have enough college credits to be considered a possible candidate, which is when they refer back to your high school grades.

I called again on Thursday, and they told me that an admissions decision has not even been made for my file. I’m applying for MCC at Steinhardt. I have not received an e-mail saying I am missing anything, so I am in the clear for that.

This is what i thought, thanks for your input. I never received an email for things that are missing but I had everything checked off around the same time as a few other people on here.
It seems like those other people and I may be in some sort of category together but what that category is- I’m not sure. I’m have been trying to put the pieces together but still can’t
In case it helps, I am going to be a… mid-year sophomore if all my credits are accepted, from a cc, and transferring to CAS.

I just mailed them my spring final grades on Friday, but they are so slow in processing that I do not know when they would actually “get“ them… anyway, that would mean I have earned 33 credits in college, which added to the 12 I got from my IB scores would be 45 credits in total. If they had my Spring grades at the time of making the decision… would they still count my HS record?

@Tomeu11 Your high school grades will still be taken into consideration, regardless of whether they have your spring grades or not.

Does NYU even take IB scores? I got like 30 hours from it, which makes me a sophomore at my current school. I’m listed as one in my school’s system, but I told NYU I was freshman because i didn’t think those credits would transfer.

Everyone who got rejected why do you think you got rejected???

An admissions counselor told me about a month ago, that the HS transcript is mainly a formality. It’s a NY state law that calls for universities to review HS transcripts. She said that they would still review an application without it, but it’s still required.
