hows everyone doing? this thread is kind of dead compared to the one of 2011…

Yeaaah. I think it’s because there’s not a lot left to discuss at this time in the process. Most people are done with their applications, and now we just have to wait until NYU starts to tell us their decisions.

I heard last year on May 11, so that’s the day I’m counting down to. 51 days left!

Does everyone’s application show as complete at this point?

Hey @giantmidget,
Could you share your experience, since you applied Stern last year.

I am now still working on the application, kind of scared… I know the selection is extremely competitive.

@goodjoblyn

Stats? Sophomore or junior transfer?

Hi everyone!
I am applying as a junior transfer to stern. Can I have a stupid question? How do you guys know what specific major you apply? I mean, I am applying for stern in general, on the common application, I just chose the" leonard N. stern school of business" I do not see the branches like economics, finance, or international business, etc… I saw someone saying he is applying for stern( economics) how does that happen? Thanks a lot!!!

@meillur

Unless I’m wrong, you just mention in the second supplement question what major you’re applying for, when they ask you why you’ve chose your major or area of study. What major are you applying for?

Thank you for your reply!!! oh do you mean the essay question asking about area of interest? In the essay I mentioned I am interested in international business… So they take it seriously as your intended branch of major? Oh my goodness…But we can change it later on if we are admitted yes? Say I can change it to management right? Because I am actually interested in both, but I can only put one in the essay though

@giantmidget,

i wanna know the stat for junior transfer! thanks

@meillur

I do not know if you can change it once you enroll, that would be a question for someone who already goes to NYU and knows their policy.

Are you a sophomore or junior transfer? If you will be a sophomore, then you definitely can change it, but as a junior, I am unsure.

When I applied last year, the application actually let you choose your specific major. This year it doesn’t ask for it, so I have just mentioned my major in that supplement question. Maybe others have dealt with it differently, I do not know.

@goodjoblyn

Sorry, I actually was asking you for your GPA, etc, haha.

If you really want to know the “experience” I had last year, just go through last year’s transfer thread. There’s a wealth of information in there.

Thank you very much!!! At least I know now the branch of major comes from my essay, lol… I will ask NYU tomorrow regarding whether or not I can change it later if admitted… I saw your slide 2011, you seem to be very experienced right now since you applied already last year!!! Good luck!!!

has anyone read the thread from 2011? Apparently FAFSA, housing and credit transfer meaning you are in are the hot topics! I’m so glad I didn’t have to do FAFSA, hopefully my application will be one of the first to be reviewed.

By the way, my eyes bleed when I see posts from some of the accepted people last year showing spelling mistakes in “here/hear“ and “they’re/there/their“…

I don’t get what you’re trying to say. If you applying for housing and/or financial aid, our application takes longer to be reviewed?

I wouldn’t think that would be the case, especially since they only look at financial aid, housing and transfer credit AFTER you’ve been accepted.

Well, if we account for the economy not being at its best I suppose that they would take a look to see if among those not needing FA there are competitive enough applicants to be accepted; besides, the more non-FAFSA applicants accepted the less work for them afterwards since they wouldn’t have to discuss the amount awarded. It is just my guess anyway, and knowing how lucky I am lately I’ll be wrong and I’ll get my decision in June -.-

I wish you’re right though, especially since I haven’t applied for financial aid, so I’m hoping I get a quicker response haha.

Hi everyone. I am an international transfer applicant from a Top-4 University in China. I applied for CAS and declared my major in mathematics. Here is my stat,

Vice Director of Research Team in FSAE Racing Team;
Vice President of Student Union in my college.
Recommendation: a professor from NYU-Courant

Please chance me~~
One more question, I submitted my application about 1 week ago, and still have no confirmation from NYU. Do you have the same problem? Thank you!

For those of you have already submitted your app:

How did you guys format the supplemental essays?

One of my essays has 3 short paragraphs (exactly 1500 characters), so I put a space between each paragraph. I hope that’s all right?

@SBlee483

Yes, but then it would be 1503 characters my friend

@shtimwang

no one could accurately chance you here, but I’d say your college GPA really brings you down, can you improve that with a good midterm report? The rest of your application seems fairly competitive.

I mailed NYU about my app, they say that since they are busy with the freshman class our applications won’t be updated until April

@Tomeu11

So do you mean even though they have received our transcripts and everything they probably won’t update anything on the Albert right now? I am just curious because I sent out mine 4 or 5 days ago with American Express, I suppose they should have got it but nothing shows up on my Albert…

@meilleur

I think it is like that, it took them 2-3 weeks to process my college transcripts and standardized scores. Just sent the high school stuff last Tuesday so I wouldn’t worry until April 1st, from then on we can bombard them with calls and emails haha
