for my transfer credits, some of my classes have “PENDDEPT REVIEW” next to them. what does that mean? and does it mean i won’t get credit for those classes?

and also, i noticed that some of my credits did not transfer (this is not including AP credit which nyu did not accept). I had 48 credits when I applied, but only 38 of those were accepted. does this mean i will not graduate on time? sorry for all the questions, i would call admissions but i don’t really want to wait til monday for an answer.

UCLA Business-Economics, incoming junior
College GPA: 3.81
SAT: 2210
Recs: Pretty great, I think!
Essays: Strong; I emphasized NYU’s mission to create global leaders and how that was important to me, among other pretty standard stuff like the NYC advantage, etc.
Other: Very involved on campus and holding two leadership positions in clubs. Did summer internship at investment fund last summer, will be doing summer programs with three of the Big 4 accounting firms this summer.

I’m still on the fence about staying at my current school versus transferring; anyone else feel that way? What are your reasons for transferring?

“PENDDEPT REVIEW” probably means “pending department review”; I’m guessing it’s the same problem as your 48-turned-38 transfer credits. NYU (Stern? are you transferring there?) is selective about what credits it accepts for transfers, seeing as it wants its students to to take most courses there. You can read about it on their website under “New Students → Transfers”.

Accepted to Stern friday (5/18) at 11:47AM.

Stats:
Freshman (rising sophomore)
Northeastern University College of Business Admin.
Northeastern University Honors program: (top 10% of school are considered for admission)
GPA ~3.7-3.8

Does anyone know where we find out about merit-based scholarship information? I am curious to know if I have been offered anything. I am not talking about financial aid/ need-based scholarships because i didn’t even bother applying for those. I am just interested in academic scholarship opportunities. Any input would help.

For those of you awaiting decision letters, good luck!

@Joseph Yang The Stern website says all credits won’t be finalized until you take the placement test (Finance, marketing, stats and writing during the summer or orientation. Also, we should submit our final transcripts showing the spring 2012’s grades)
Also, NYU Stern does not accept AP credit (except AP statistics)
BTW, I have previously sent you a private message. Did you receive that?

@ NYUstern1992 Congrats!!! I also got admitted to Stern a few days ago. Does NYU or Stern offer any merit-based scholarships to transfer students?

@ richard: yea i received your msg a few days ago. i actually responded to it, but for some reason there is a glitch on my part so whenever i respond to private messages they never receive it. it’s really weird. but yea, i’d like to meet you, possibly before the semester starts. If you can PM me your email, then i can shoot you an email when we can meet up.

another potentially dumb question, for those who are housing: do we stay in the upperclassmen dorms? I’m not sure if the freshman dorms are strictly for freshmen or do they imply first year NYU students as well.

Isabella, I called housing last week to ask this question. They anticipate cancellations in upperclassmen dorms and will place transfers there unless they specifically request and show a reason why they should be housed in a freshman dorm.

@Brett: they sent me an email about choosing classes and orientation. i don’t know if you’re talking about this email. and as for housing, i assume they’ll send that in the coming days/week. but right now im just looking for apts in the city cause nyu housing will run me a pretty penny

did anyone else get **** for financial aid? i got 6k lol. and the bill’s 62k hahahaha. what do i do??? well maybe the on campus fee is factored into the bill, so if i tell them i want to live off campus, they will lessen the bill? and if certain fees are built into the bill (like personal expenses, books, etc) I can also lessen those fees as well?
