OFFICIAL Oct. 8, 2005 SAT II: Chemistry Forum

I dunno I might just cancel my scores and forget about chemistry forever because obviously I'm not very good at it.

man, i was getting like 750 on practice tests, and the one in collegeboard i like almost aced??

for the diagram of the Bohr model for jumping electrons, did u guys get A, E, and A?

I had no idea for that question, had never seen anything like it before. I think I put like C, B, and maybe I omitted the third one.

Did anyone get those questions where they wanted you to balance find the coefficient for something when they only gave you the first half of the reaction?

NACL was not TT CE
it was TF

NACL causes the vapor pressure to be lower NOT HIGHER because the Na+ and Cl- particles impede the water from pushing up. BECAUSE the vapor pressure is lower the boiling is slower/takes a higher temperature

so what do you guys think you will get? I think below :(. Im cancelling and retaking in nov

how many "CE" answers did u guys get? I got 4.

That chemistry exam was absolutely ridiculous. I don't understand how any SAT II exam can be that hard!!!!

My D commented that the test was far more difficult than the practice test was and that, for the first time in in any standardized test, she didn't finish...had to leave 4 questions blank. The curve is quite generous, however.

has it ever been this hard??

the curve better be the best ever....seriously. i think we all agree this was one of the hardest chem SAT II tests we've taken.

ramsfan: I got lucky on that question, because we just studied the exact diagram in my chem class on friday. the answer for the ionization potential for H was the line starting at the ground state going all the way up to the 4th energy level (since an e- has to get knocked off to ionize, it has to get excited enough to jump past the energy lvls, so it goes all the way) i hope that was understandable =</p>

for the bhor model i got C as one answer, that one was where the line was the longest

I also got 4 T/T/CE. I remember that I got both 101 and 102 were T/T/CE. I think the other two were 108 and 112, but don't ask me to remember what the questions were.

the bohr model set of three, i put E for the middle one (lowest energy) and omitted the other two.

btw, i heard somewhere that the curve is pre-determined? is this true?

SalikSyed, you're rite about the NaCl one. I think I remember that I did put T/F, or at least I hope that's what I did. Adding an ionic compound to a solute always raises the boiling point, lowers the freezing point, and lowers the vapor pressure.

the test difficulty .. was some what like the barron tests for me.. wasnt easy tho. I skiped about 4 questions and circled aLOT
when the examiner said 5 mins left I had like 10 questions to go -.-''

Bump
Bump
Bump

That test was SO hard. I skipped about 15 and God knows how many I missed! I can't cancel though - this is my re-take. :(

grays what do you mean you cannot cancel? You can cancel only once?
I've found this test not so hard for me but I did too slowly, I am so tense and check the questions I did over and over again because I am afraid to did it wrong. and until 5 mins left I just reached question #50. then I rushed 10 question in 5 mins and left 10 blanks. damn, I think I should try practise my speed and re take it Nov. I am not sure whether to cancel my score or not. can Some one give me a little advise?
