Official October SAT Math Discussion

@earthand, yea the ice cream was the math experimental.

Do you guys remember a probability question about the likelihood of picking out green and red cherries/marbles? Was this a grid-in or mc? I don’t remember what answer I put…

Also, there was a question with two lines intersected and x, y, and z angles. y>90, so was the answer x + z > 180? (I think it asked which one was NOT true)

I think it was 9/22 fr your first one

The right answer is x+y+z>270…x+z>180 wasn’t a choice

Marbles question was 9/22, and it was a grid-in.

You got 45/110 and had to simplify.

Does anyone remember the question about finding a side of a triangle? It ended up as a number times sqrt3

Can someone explain that Grid-In surface area cube one. I have no idea how to do it. I think I missed 2 so far omitted 0

3 sides were unaffected (3x9) 3 sides had a cube taken a way (3x8) and three new sides were exposed …27+24+3=54

Can anyone tell me how the parabola slope question is 5?
And can anyone tell me what the question was for the high school absence question?

oh and what would be the range if i got 2 wrong (1 mc, 1 grid-in)?

The slope is because f(x)= -x^2+25 (They didn’t tell you k equaled 25 so you had to find out by the x intercepts which were -5 and 5)

The line was from (-5,0) to (0,25). Rise over run…slope is 5

For the parabola one, the vertex was (0, 25) and the other point was (-5,0), giving you a slope of 5.

Edit: too slow :o

I love you guys, only missed one question :smiley: 750+ here I come :D

What answer did you guys get for the tangent circles with the triangle?

Was that the one that gave you the radii of the circles and asked for the perimeter of the triangle? I don’t remember what I put. I think it was like 12 or something.

@sillyup20, that was 65.
@yankeesfanatic, yep that was 12.

If its the yankee is talking about…I got 12 as well

for the trail question

im pretty sure there was only a marker at the start not a rest stop.

so it would be 8:3

also if i got 1 grid in wrong but no other ones wrong would that be a 780?

thanks!

^ I distinctly remember there being a marker and a rest stop at the start. I re-read the question and drew a picture. 2:1 was definitely the answer.

There was 100% a rest stop at the start. On my test there was at least. I remember that being the final question in the section and having like 3 minutes left so I went really slowly through it and read each part of the question a few times over to make sure I didn’t make a reading mistake.

So yeah, it was 2:1.

I guess it’s possible there were different variations of the question but I’ve never heard of that.

@oRIDGEinal, there were both.

It was the one that asked for the area of the triangle. The circles had a radius of 4.
