***Official Princeton University Class of 2022 RD Applicant Thread***

@quitpro thats funny. Yay for your friend. Princeton made me very upset how they rolled out the EA announcement. These poor kids. My daughters deferred. We wait and see. One thing I noticed is that many of you have applied to the same schools. I am sure you have crossed paths already and not even realized it.

What is your home state and where is your #1 choice located?

@MisPollitas00 12

@MisPollitas00 I applied to a lot of schools, a whopping 12 haha. I’m from southern California but I really want to go out of state. Since I don’t know as much about these faraway schools as I do the schools in my area I chose to apply to a lot. Better safe than sorry right?

I got some good scholarship offers from UC Irvine, St. Olaf (MN), and University of Washington so far. Just today I received my acceptance for UC San Diego and UC Los Angeles. I’m still waiting on a lot, namely Yale, Princeton (ofc), Harvard, Amherst, Tufts, Bates and UC Berkeley. I applied to Yale (CN) EA and it’s still my number one dream school, but Princeton comes in at a close second! I chose Yale for my SCEA because of Princeton’s high deferral rate, not that Yale’s is too drastically different though haha

What schools did your daughter apply to? Best of luck to everyone!

@MyDogsNameIsFat Hi there and thanks for sharing the good news! I got accepted into WashU, UVa, UNC, Case Western Reserve, Colby (with Presidential Scholar designation), UC Los Angeles, and UC San Diego. Waitlisted at Johns Hopkins, bummer. I’m waiting for Princeton, Cornell, Duke, Stanford, Emory, Brandeis, UC Berkeley, and Vanderbilt.

I listed my intended majors as neuroscience, cognitive science, and/or psychology. Good luck to everyone!

@MyDogsNameIsFat My daughter applied to 11 or 12 as well. Princeton, her first choice and what she called her reach. She did 3/4 reach - 3/4 competitive but she had a good chance of getting in and then the 3/4 safe schools.

Princeton (D) - Harvard - Columbia - UChicago (A)- Northwestern - Rice (Likely - Vision 2018 participant)- Carnegie Melon - Smith (A) - with STRIDE) UT Austin - auto admit -Plan II (A) - SMU (A)- Trinity (A)- Hofstra (A)- OU (A)

So she is just waiting now from 6 schools for a final decision. I am so glad only a couple weeks left so she/we can finally make decisions.

@MisPollitas00 Wow she got into UChicago, that’s an amazing school! Best of luck to you guys! It’s nice to see that you and your daughter are working through this together, my parents don’t even know what most of the schools I applied to are XD

@Hephaestion Omg I thought that I had applied to a lot of schools, but you blow me out of the water! My apps definitely costed more than one grand, my parents would have killed me if I applied to as many as you haha

@MyDogsNameIsFat Once, when I told a relative about applying to colleges and naming a few of them, he said: “Fantastic! Those are some great schools. They’re in the UK right?” LOL. Pretty pathetic (not knowing what they’re talking about + not knowing that schools like HYP are in the US) but oh well xd

I’ve had a relatively strange college process. I have a 4.3 and a 1550 and was denied by Penn ED, Johns Hopkins, and UCLA, waitlisted at Wash U and UC Davis, accepted at UVA, U Mich, UCSD, Northeastern, and BU. Princeton is one of my top choices along with Northwestern but I’m not sure about my chances given the rejections I’ve received thus far.

@collegesavant1 kind of in the same boat… 4.5 GPA 1490 SAT, pretty good extra curriculurs, Hispanic, etc and was deferred by Harvard, rejected from MIT, waitlisted at UChicago and accepted at SMU, and Umich. I’m not ecstatic about Michigan or smu and I’m getting a little discouraged about ivy day and Stanford :frowning:

@Tomas1355 I know exactly what you mean! One of the schools that I was accepted to is St. Olaf, it’s a super small private liberal arts school now Minnesota. It’s also the school that Gatsby went to in The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. My English teacher was so surprised when he found out that it actually exists!

@MyDogsNameIsFat My CC name is my dog’s name, my hooverhoo looks exactly like your CC picture, :))

@collegesavant1 – same here. I have 1500 SAT and our school has a different GPA system but I was the valedictorian… so that UCLA waitlist has left me dejected

@RaidoPsymentis @collegesavant1 @nicolasdeadman I am in the same boat as you guys. I think it’s because scores now mean less and less in the admissions process and it truly is becoming, as they say, holistic. I have 1570 SAT, 800 in 4 subject tests and 95% prediction for my high school final mark and I have only had rejections so far.

@IlluminatiIsReal Where you from?

Lol same here…1470 sat 1800 math 2 760 Physics All As/A+s…great recs good essays and ecs…rejected by every college so far except trinity (waitlisted), even my safeties…applied to four ivies…probably gonna get rejected there as well

@mmstanfordbound From India but I live in France.

@IlluminatiIsReal Sometimes they just reject you because you ask for a lot of financial aid; it has nothing to do with your ability. Things will be better when it come to rich schools. Don’t lose hope!

So there’s this kid in my class that’s been talking about Princeton since 9th grade and he got deferred SCEA. I’m very afraid that I’m going to get accepted and he won’t, probably mostly just because I’m a legacy. It’s just that I will feel so bad if that happens bc he actually really wants to go, while I would be happy to go but mostly only applied bc of my mom.

@ski_racer Donate the acceptance to him :wink:

I’m really pulling for Princeton, although I know that there isn’t much hope. My interview was great and another alumna who I talked to with “connections” (whatever this means) said that she was going to call the admissions office on my behalf. I was accepted to Yale SCEA but would seriously consider passing it up for Princeton (I probably won’t need to make this decision, though). :slight_smile:
