Toph-- yeah forgot to mention my SATs. I got a 1240 combined (660 V) (580 M).....690 SAT 2 Writing, 620 SAT 2 Literature, 650 SAT 2 Spanish.....5 on AP Literature, 4 on AP Psych. my school doesnt offer many APs

Just got the mail. I had a bad feeling when I saw a small thin letter from Pepperdine. Long story short - Rejected. I don't really get it. I would be a junior year transfer, have a good gpa, and a couple of EC's. It is not that I really wanted to go there, but I thought it would be a safety school for sure. I got into Cal Poly, and I thought it would be harder to get in there than at Pepperdine. In the letter it something like 7800 applied, and they were only going to take around 700. That seems pretty damn selective to me. Oh well, I am not really into the whole required religion thing anyways. Now I am just scared about my #1 choice, USC. I really hope I get into USC.

Sorry to hear about Pepperdine Kyle.. But, CalPoly, I'm jealous! One of my best friends goes there and she LOVES that place. Apparently everyone is really cool! She's been out of school for a while, will be 23 in May and was concerned about the adjustment, but..She's having a wonderful time, and doing very well!
Hope all goes well with USC, but at least you know you have a solid school in your backpocket!

Camaro_Kyle,

i just got my pepperdine rejection letter as well. I wasn't too suprised because i didn't take any of those religion courses and most of their required courses before transfer. and i, like you, am waiting for my number 1 choice USC!!!!!!!!!!!

my stats are 3.48 gpa
48 units, (currently taking 11 units of classes)
polysci major
all of their required courses will be completed following this semester. I already got into my 3rd choice school UCSD, so i'm happy. Now i'm waiting for UCLA and USC.

what are ur stats?

Sorry to hear about your rejection. I didn't think about the religion courses, but it starting to make sense because I have not taken any of the religion type courses they require. I have 60 units completed, 3.65 GPA, and a couple of ec's, and I am also a poly sci major. They probably rejected all polysci majors so they won't have battles over politics and religion. I also just picked up an internship and was thinking about writing a letter to USC about it, and including a letter of recommendation from a couple of teachers (forgot to do it when I applied), but I think it may be to late. Anyways, good luck with USC.

any thoughts on my chances at Brown or Oberlin?

God I hope I get into Brown!! I'm so worried about this whole need-aware admissions thing. sigh

want it so bad....

I just got a phone call-- accepted at Smith!! :) 1460 SAT, average 750 SAT IIs, female math major, college GPA 3.85.

anisky, sorry but you're in the wrong thread. This thread is for TRANSFERS, where we don't care about SAT's.

There are a plethora of mitigating factors such as, most obviously, the school, amount of hours completed, and so forth; though one cannot sufficiently determine how much weight the SAT has, it can be inferred that most colleges consider it on a minimal level, at the very least.

i want to transfer to scu as a sophomore... right now i am finishing my second semester at john jay college of criminal justice in nyc.

had a 3.8 GPA first semester, should be the same or 4.0 this semester
had only a 3.27 high school gpa
1280 on the SATs (710 verbal).
took 2 AP exams-- 5 in english, 4 in psychology.
i don't have many extracurriculars:
100+ hours community service
2 part time jobs through all of high school.
i have gotten a lot of awards: english merit award, local councilwoman commendation, president's service award, work experience merit award, work experience scholarship, justice scholarship (at my current school, given to 10 students a year), gene clifton memorial scholarship (given by the police department in the city i used to live, 1 local student a year), honors program at my current school.
i have 3 very good recs
i think my essay is pretty good

i'm also in state although i am living in new york this school year. i went to one of the most competitive public high schools in ca, palo alto high school. what do you think?

does anyone know if we can check our USC application status online? if so, please provide a link. also, on collegeboard it says transfers will recieve their response by May 1, but i called the school and they said in may and june. anyone have a clue whats the latest we'll get our response?

pouf, do you know Will Keller? He went to Palo Alto HS

student4u - I've heard varying reports from different people regarding when transfers will be notified. One admissions counselor told me the earliest would be late April to early May and another told me there's no way they'd be finished until at least the middle of May. So, I guess well just have to wait it out, yeah?

hey, i don't know him but the name sounds familiar. i think he might have gone to gunn, that's pahs' rival school in palo alto.

ahhh. he's short has red hair and is a big wrestler

oxygenbarfight, I was really wondering what would happen if we didn't get our results until june, because the deadline for accepting the UC admissions is June 1, and i don't want to pass on those when i'm not sure if i'm in or not at usc. have u spoken to any couselors regarding this?

student4u - for your sake and my sanity, i hope we hear before june 1st too. i'm not applying at any uc's (i only applied to usc and northwestern), so i'm not totally sure about your situation. i think it'd be worth it for you to call the admissions office soon (tomorrow even) to tell them your situation. perhaps they'll give a straighter answer about when they'll be sending out transfer notifications. keep me updated.

Well, if you can spare the 100$, you can tell UC you plan to attend their campus, and then back out after you hear from whatever other school you applied to later on.
