True--only if you let it get to you. I think moving on and focusing on the positives that have happend in the process is healthy. He's not going to dwell on it, and has just become disinterested and unenthusiastic. We've had several issues crop up with WFU with regards to application materials. I think they've sent one post card during this whole time. Other schools have sent catalogs, viewbooks, letters from various departments. I don't understand why admission's offices are trying to second guess the intent of the applicants, who is more interested--can they really tell?

oh--I'll add here that the mail just came and he's been accepted. This is only the second piece of mail we've received here from WFU.

Yeah...it is kind of odd how they don't communicate with prospectives, and they don't email at ALL. Plus, the acceptance package/letter alarmed me at first!

It'll probably be where I end up though, unless Davidson, Duke or WM lets me off the waitlist. I'm ticked off at Richmond because they randomly raised tuition so much for this coming year, Chapel Hill is too big and I've heard undergrads don't get the attention they need, and I'm just not sure about Elon, although I have about half-tuition paid for.

It's a good school, but the lack of communication DOES irritate me a bit.

My oldest (freshman at Bucknell this year) applied to University of Richmond and William and Mary last year. Although he was accepted to both, neither came anywhere close to the financial aid of his other schools. I can see that from W & M because they are a state school, but U of Richmond would fall in line with other privates, or so we thought. He got a half ride at Bucknell and Colgate, so Richmond was off the list. We could not afford it.

Maybe WFU will come through with some good aid for you juba. It's nice to know that you have the Elon $$$ just in case.

I also agree that the lack of communication from Wake is a concern from me as well. Was it just my son's letter, or did anyone notice that the acceptance letter did not have a real signature. My S applied to a bunch of schools and all letters of acceptance had real signatures except for Wake. Maybe this is just something small, but it sticks out in my mind and is somewhat cold.

Has anyone been rejected, or heard of anyone that has? I still haven't received my letter and fear that this is a sign that acceptances are mailed early. Thanks a lot.

Congrats to all of the acceptees! To those of you that got WLed (like me last year) stay on if you are dead set on attending Wake. To improve your shot at getting off the WL: Write them a letter, send them an additional letter of recommendation, and something else.

About the lack of communication, eh, I dunno. It is true that Wake DOES NOT do the e-mail bit. Maybe two e-mails max. But I don't think it really matters. If you want to communicate with Wake, pick up a phone or write them an e-mail and you'll see superb communication. Besides, I kind of like the acceptance letter then university information package deal. You don't want to take all that information in at once, trust me. There's a lot that you have to keep track of, and it makes you look forward to the package.

If you all have any questions, let me know.

warblers, did your scholarship letter tell you how much you actually get? i got a letter telling me i got a scholarship, but i have to wait for the financial aid report to find out how much the scholarship is worth.

Mom09 we noticed the same thing. :( We received exactly two pieces of mail from them...a postcard in February saying his merit application was complete (he sent it back in October) and then this acceptance. We got several we need your fin aid uploaded messages. They did not respond to our emails. Finally my husband called and they said they would call back if they couldn't find it.....We also had an error in SS# and they were the only school that did not respond back. It makes me nervous because we will be sending our son over 1000 miles away regardless of which school he chooses, and I want to know if there is an issue it will be handled easily. At least we have some relatives in Winston-Salem. He'd really like a coursebook to compare class offerings.

Oh and stats:
1440 SAT
3.85 UW
26/~700....people keep dropping out!
Large, mediocre, public high school
Essays: strong suit
Recs: didn't look
ECS: debate, debate, debate, debate.....

Ugh, bluegreen and warblers. And warblers, the acceptance letter says that financial aid stuff will come in mid-April. Best of luck to the both of you.

Calm down. I only live 90 minutes away (in-state) and I haven't officially found out yet. Just because you haven't found out yet does NOT mean you're rejected.

Thanks for the info, dtown. I was wondering when FA would come. :)

This is good news I guess. I thought I'd at least make the waitlist but I've started to second guess myself. Guess I'll have to sit tight till Monday.
