Official Ross School of Business Class of 2017 Pre-Admission Thread

is there anyone like me, admitted to michigan on 12/15 through EA, who still hasn’t got any email reply or decision ?

Teanhuey, my son, for one, has not heard about Ross after being admitted in mid-December, as well as many others, it seems, according to past posts.

Got my rejection email yesterday after being accepted to LSA in December.

32 ACT, 4.0, 1/75, OOS

Call the office today and they say they are still reviewing the applications

anyone else get an e-mail?

Tiger Woods is killin’ it

@william95 did you get the waitlist option?

Did anyone else here get the waitlist option?

What’s the wait list option? My son got an email on 4/1 saying no decision until the end of April–is that what you mean or were you specifically wait listed for the program?

i just got waitlisted… damn

Just got an email saying that the decision will be out by the end of April.

Rman247 - does your letter state that you are waitlisted for Ross? i.e. after May 1st if their Preferred Admits yield is lower than expected you can still get in as a Preferred Admit? I didn’t know this was even an option.

yeah, in to lsa in december for ea, got the email not even two weeks ago saying my decision would be out by the end of april, and got waitlisted for ross tooday

^ are you guys applying as freshman or transfers?

I wasn’t waitlisted, just straight rejected. I can’t afford michigan anyway since they didn’t give me any aid

Rman247, Congrats!

would you mind posting just the sentence on your Ross decision email that states that you are on a wait list for Ross? By when will they let you know if you are off the wait list?

Looks like this is something new for Ross - I have not heard of wait list for Ross before. Are you in-state or out of state?

Thank you

Dear Blank
We have completed a final review of your Preferred Admission application and all supporting documents to the University of Michigan’s Stephen M. Ross School of Business. You have many impressive qualities, but we must inform you that we are not able to offer you admission at this time. Our high application volume coupled with the very strong credentials of this year’s applicants made for an exceedingly competitive selection process.

It is possible that space may become available after the enrollment deposit deadline of May 1 has passed and up until the end of May. Therefore, if you remain interested in Preferred Admission, we invite you to place your name on our waitlist for a select group of students. Please click here to complete the form to accept your waitlist option. This must be completed before May 1, 2013.

This decision does not affect your admission to the College Literature, Science, and the Arts. In the event that you are not admitted from the waitlist to the Ross School of Business, we still want you to be a part of the University of Michigan community and highly encourage you to apply for Regular Admission to the BBA Program during your freshman year. More than three-quarters of Michigan Ross BBA students enter the program this way. The admission rate for University of Michigan freshman applicants, while still competitive, is considerably higher than for high school seniors. If admitted, you would begin the Michigan Ross BBA program as a sophomore in the Fall of 2014, which is the same time that this year’s Preferred Admission students will enroll at Ross. We will hold BBA information sessions and application workshops throughout the 2013-2014 academic year, and BBA peer counselors will be available to answer questions about the program, curriculum, course requirements, and Regular Admission application. Please visit our website for details about the requirements and application process.

We sincerely congratulate you on your admission to the University of Michigan – this is a great accomplishment – and we look forward to having you on campus this fall.

Sincerely,

Then there is a link where it says waitlist that you can fill out. I know I am going to Michigan so I filled it out

And I am instate

Rman247,

Thanks a lot for posting this, can you please PM me your stats and ECs? Very happy that you have a spot on the wait list, I think you have a good chance of getting off the wait list given their low yield on preferred admit. 89/300+

All the best to you.

not sure how i got it, but i got the ross preadmit (on april 1)
stats:
gpa: 3.85
act: 31
just committed to michigan!

Congrats user19! I was also very surprised to get pre-admitted. Similar stats, 3.9 and 31 ACT.

Go Blue!

Congrats to those accepted. Rejection letter came last week. Similar stats - 3.96 GPA (top Michigan public school - mostly AP classes), 32 ACT. It’s okay though, as son has decided to get an engineering undergrad, and then an MBA. Good luck to all.

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THIS IS THE DEFERRED LETTER!?

April 12, 2013

Dear Julia,

Congratulations on your admission to the College of Literature, Science, and the Arts at the University of Michigan! We began reviewing your application for Preferred Admission to the Stephen M. Ross School of Business soon after your recent admission to the University. Because Preferred Admission is extremely competitive, we review each application thoroughly. As a result, we must provide you with a formal decision about Preferred Admission at the end of April.

You may wish to know that more than three-quarters of Ross BBA students enter the program by applying for Regular Admission to the BBA Program during their freshman year at Michigan. The admission rate for University of Michigan freshman applicants, while still competitive, is considerably higher than for high school seniors. If admitted this way, you would begin the Ross BBA program as a sophomore in the Fall of 2014, the same time as this year’s Preferred Admission students.
