Totally agree, and good luck to you too!!

Hi y’all! I’ve been hesitant to join the thread, cause I wasn’t sure about SCEA, but I ended up submitting!

Ergh. Same here. My school’s sporatic with acceptances, too. We had 5 for the class of 2011, just one for the class of 2012. Hopefully more than one this year :/

And the wait begins!

DD added a great-great-great-aunt who was one of the first women to graduate from Stanford, in 1902. Also an uncle who got his MA/PhD there, more recently. I heard that they don’t give very much weight to legacies, but we figure it can’t hurt.

Only one from school applying early :)

My daughter has an alumni interview this afternoon. She is very nervous. Several great kids from her school are applying early action.

Hi 1portland1, good luck to your daughter! Just curious, how did she get an interview? Did they just contact her? Also, I assume she submitted her application early…what was the timeframe like from submitting to knowing about the interview?

I’m just wondering because I am in one of the states eligible for interviews, and am really hoping to get one.

Praying for your daughter!

By the way, I called this morning regarding my missing info on my supplement, and got a fax number to use for corrections or additions. It’s (650) 723-6050 and you must include name, DOB, and common app #. Just in case anyone else needs it!

Yes, she submitted an art supplement, so she applied before October 15th. Then someone contacted her by email earlier this week and set an interview. Good luck to you.

Very cool, thanks for the information!

So I seem to be having difficulty with the official score reports for the SAT. I sent them late September. I never got confirmation from any colleges that they received them. Stanford’s Application Status says they have not processed the scores yet. Surely they should have received them by now. Is this typical? Did I do something wrong? I used the online score report and sent my scores, just like the collegeboard site tells you. Did they not send or something? What’s going on?

did you use rush shipping? either way, they should have received them by now i would think. you should call stanford about it, im sure they can explain it.

I did not use rush shipping, because I didn’t see why it would be necessary to rush something that I still had 5 weeks left to send.

Sorry if this has been already stated somewhere (I searched and couldn’t find anything), but how will we be able to find out first? Email, mail, checking online, or something else? Thanks and good luck to everyone.

Sorry for bombarding this thread with questions, I have one more though. I plan on applying for financial aid and when I submitted my common app, I wrote in my social security number. When I click on Stanford and go to the Applicant part, it has my SSN filled in, but when I do a print preview of my application, my SSN isn’t listed. Should I fax in my SSN still? Does it 100% have to be on my common app for me to apply for financial aid? Thanks for the help.

Also about the SAT stuff, in the application status e-mail it says that it may take up to 2 weeks for test scores to be processed to the rest of your application. I sent in my scores with the free waivers when I took the tests (ACT December, SAT IIs May, SAT June) and they have yet to be listed but I’m going to wait a bit before worrying.

@njordaer, I believe they will email us. In past years, an email has come from the director of admissions sometime after 3:30 PM. If you’re accepted, you will also get a letter in the mail, but if you are rejected then you won’t. The official date for the email is Dec. 15th, but it is generally done the Friday before the 15th, so probably the 14th. However, in past years they have sometimes sent them even earlier, so I think we could hear by as early as Friday Dec. 7th!

1portland1, how did the interview go? If you don’t mind sharing, what kinds of questions were asked?

@redchair I think Stanford can choose to not see your SSN, so as long as you entered it it should show up if they want to see it. We also have to do the CSS Profile by Nov. 15th so I’m pretty sure if we do that then we’re eligible.

Hi, I made a thread about this, I was wondering: if I applied early action but only sent in my SAT scores yesterday, how will the normal sending delay affect my application?

Does anyone know why Stanford doesn’t conduct interviews for all or almost all of its applicants when most of its comparable schools do? Does it have to do with alumni distribution or something? I’m just curious, because I’m not in a test-interview area.

Date Common app was submitted (online/mail): 10/15 online
Date Supplement was submitted: 10/12
Did you send an arts supplement? (Y/N): Yes
Status of processed credentials: All complete
Date you sent your SAT/ACT scores: 10/16

cherryblossom, Stanford has been gradually increasing the scope of its alumi interview program for the past several years. Until a couple of years ago, it was in a pilot phase, during which they were determining whether they would make it permanent. They decided to keep it, and to expand it each year with the goal of offering interviews to virtually all applicants as soon as practicable. Stanford’s alumni are distributed around the country and the world, so that won’t be an issue. Until interviews are available to almost all applicants, they won’t have much actual bearing on decisions since that wouldn’t be fair to those who aren’t in the areas where they are currently interviewing.
