@sonpat I agree with goaltobemd. I don’t think a majority of the BSMD admissions committees see the midyear report, especially after interviews. I’m pretty sure it’s just the undergrads that look at the midyear.
@Mocha16 no, i’m from ny. but i didn’t know that was a thing… do you know if they send out invites by geographic section?
Please note
I got this from another post back in past so this is not mine but I felt it was good
Bear in mind that no matter what peple say, there is no “formula” for an interview. Your interview depends entirely on the interviewer so be vigilant and know how your interviewer reacts to your responses and adjust accordingly.
However, some general tips are:
- find a way to connect with your interviewer. For me, I was fortunate to learn that my interviewer attended undergrad near where I lived and we really spent the vast majority of our time talking about the area and some of the great eateries there.
- Be prepared for healthcare questions. Know what the patient protection and affordable care act does. You don't have to know the specifics, but have enough of an understanding to form an educated opinion about "Obama care"
- Wear a suit, look professional, and act professional.
- Smile and be yourself. Let your personality show. With that being said, if you are naturally a d-bag, you might want to be a it careful showing your personality---or becoming a doctor for that matter.
- Consider bringing in a resume/activity sheet. Know what is on your sheet and be ready to talk about all the items listed there.
- know why you want to study medicine.
- Know or consider what type of physician you want to be and what you intend on doing 10 years from now.
- Know why you want to attend xxxxx. Be sincere. Note what is appealing to you about xxxxx. This will require research on your part.
- know why you applied to the undergrads.
- Be confident and ready to talk about yourself when asked "tell me about yourself."
Hello I am a current BS/MD student and thought that the best preparation for my interview was to prepare using these questions: https://gecd.mit.edu/sites/default/files/grad/files/sample-med-school-interview-questions.pdf
In addition, make sure to be very relaxed and most importantly just be yourself.
@luciagrande Sorry, I am not sure if it is true, but I was told by someone. Correction, it was an interviewee, not an interviewer
@J2H239 Yes. I got an email invite
@Mocha16, Congratulations. From where, HPME, GAP or PPSP?
HPME only
That’s great. You will generally have around 20% chance to be admitted. Hopefully, you also would be lucky on Pitt GAP very soon.
So I just called Hofstra and they said interview notifications will be going out (through phone call) throughout February. Has anyone received an interview invite yet?
Received Hofstra invite via email ~10 PM PST. Four interview dates mid March.
anyone know stats for NU HPME for how many they interview vs actually accept?
I got an email from hofstra - 1 pm EST.
Anyone know how many applied?/how many invited to interview?/how many accepted?
@tunetheday Northwest HPME: 519 / 120 / 20, invited to apply supp / called for interview / matriculate.
@greenscreenbean Unfortunately don’t have the data for Hofstra.
anyone know idea what the group activity is this year for the RPI/Albany interview?
Which year
@J2H239 this year
@Toshka and @greenscreenbean when did you submit Hofstra’s supplement? Also, did you send additional recommendations/resume?
Maybe this is an obvious thing, but I’m not of the # generation; we used printed, stamped, & mailed graduation cards! Lol. So humor my ignorance here please.
Is there an accepted format for hash tagging acceptances for BSMD programs that anyone knows of?
Just for example, HPME. (not attaching the # on purpose since this is just an example)
Would it be # NWU2020 or # NWU2024 or # HPME2024 or what?
And what about for any accelerated programs? # the year you finish UG portion or SOM grad year?
How was pen state Jeff? What were number interviewees and est offers
Does anyone have any updates on NU HPME, Washington’s University Scholars Program, and Brown PLME?
